Say What Now? Bartender Charged After Serving Intoxicated Man Who Later Murdered 8 People, Including His Estranged Wife

A bartender in Texas was charged with a misdemeanor after serving an intoxicated man who later shot and killed eight people, including his estranged wife.

via NYDN:

Lindsey Glass, 27, served Spencer Hight multiple drinks on Sept. 10, 2017, at Local Public House in Plano. According to reports, Hight had two gin and tonics, a shot of vodka, and two beers. While at the bar, he took out a large knife and spun it around on the counter-top and talked about “taking care of some dirty work.”

“Hight was unsteady on his feet and staggered around the bar, running into tables and walking sideways,” according to a report.

Glass was alarmed enough to text a co-worker about it, but nevertheless served him.

Hight left the bar and murdered eight people at his wife’s home. Police shot and killed him at the scene.

Glass was charged for allegedly violating a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code titled “Sale to Certain Persons.”

The code states “a person commits an offense if the person with criminal negligence sells an alcoholic beverage to an habitual drunkard or an intoxicated or insane person.”

Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission investigators said Glass was trained and certified to not sell alcohol to intoxicated customers.

The TABC canceled the bar’s permit in October. A negligence lawsuit was filed against the bar in 2018.

Glass could face as much as a year of jail time and a $500 fine.

Whether she served that man or not, we’re pretty sure he would’ve found a way to do what he wanted to do.
