OWN’s Tyler Perry Drama ‘The Haves and the Have Nots’ Hits Ratings High

The Haves and the Have Nots, returned for its sophomore season on Tuesday night to record ratings.

The episode averaged 2.8 million viewers at 9 p.m., making it the most-watched episode to date and the most-watched scripted show on the network — only bested by Oprah’s Next Chapter episodes featuring Bobbi Kristina Houston and Lance Armstrong.

THR reports:

The drama was up 57 percent from its 2013 premiere, rising 59 percent in the targeted women 25-54 demo. There it attracted a 2.5 rating (1.1 million viewers). The Haves and the Have Nots posted significant growth over the course of its first season, eventually wrapping with 2.6 million viewers.
