Oprah and Selma director Ava DuVernay are reuniting, and this time they’re taking their talents to the small screen.
Oprah and Ava are set to create a drama series for the Oprah Winfrey Network.
The series will be based on Natalie Baszile’s novel Queen Sugar, which tells the story of a black woman who uproots her life from Los Angeles to a large sugarcane farm in Louisiana.
The series will address single parenthood, finding love and finding oneself amid new circumstances.
Ava is set to write, direct and executive produce, while Oprah will executive produce and actually recur in a role on the series.
Queen Sugar will begin production later this year.
