Leona Lewis’ latest single “Lovebird“, taken from her third studio album Glassheart has failed to reach the Top 200 in the UK. After dominating the UK and smashing the US with singles like Bleeding Love and Happy, it seems as if Leona’s winning streak may be over. The singer released her new single on December 9 and it has failed to make any impact across the pond. The 200th song on the chart sold 600 copies, meaning Lewis sold less than that.
A source told UK publication The Mirror:
This is a bitter pill for Leona to swallow and there is no sugar coating it. The single was strong and should have done better but, unfortunately, there was no real marketing force behind it. Crucially, it didn’t capture the imagination of radio bosses and got little airplay. Most people, unless they have the album, have never heard the song. It’s a little embarrassing for the label because they have invested so heavily in Leona.
Leona’s album Glassheart charted at #3 in the UK when it was released back in October, but received some less-than-stellar reviews. There are no current plans for Leona’s album or single to be released in the US.
