Lady Gaga Talks Weight: ‘Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it?’

Although she’s telling the truth, it’s never nice to point fingers Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga has launched a body revolution, but the revolution seems to include pointing out singers who are larger than she is.

The 26-year-old singer has been open about her body image issues and herbattles with bulimia and anorexia. In September she posted photos of herself wearing only a bra and underwear, in response to comments about her recent weight gain. When asked by the U.K. website Stylist about her decision to launch the body revolution, Gaga explained that she was “acutely aware” of some unflattering photos that were making the rounds online, which were doctored to look as though the singer had gained quite a bit of weight.

Gaga told the website she “didn’t really care” but, when she saw it being reported on the news:

“I just thought, ‘This is f*cking ridiculous.’ I mean, what kind of example is that to a young girl sitting at home? I thought, ‘well I don’t really care if they think I’m fat, because, quite honestly, I did gain about 30 pounds.'” she said.

Gaga has a good point, but then she asked a very strange question.

“Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it? She’s so wonderful and I think her confidence is something I have to match. She has set the bar very high for a lot of woman. I need to be a confident woman and just say politically active things when I can that are helpful to young people,” she told Stylist.

It’s a strange question since Adele has not been immune to comments about her weight. In February, the singer responded with grace when designer Karl Lagerfeld called her “fat.”

“I’ve never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines,” the then 23-year-old told People. “I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that.”

And that wasn’t the first time Adele’s weight had been a topic of discussion. It’s just that she’s repeatedly expressed that the only opinion she’s concerned with is her own.

“I’ve seen people where it rules their lives, who want to be thinner or have bigger boobs, and how it wears down on them,” she told British Vogue in 2011. “And I don’t want that in my life. I have insecurities, of course, but I don’t hang out with anyone who points them out to me.”
