Knife Found at O.J. Simpson’s Property Has No Connection to Murder

The rusty knife that was discovered on O.J. Simpsons property and unearthed a few weeks ago officially has no connection to the murders of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.

via Variety:

“We have confirmed, we have determined, there is no nexus,” Police Captain Andy Neiman said Friday.

LAPD detectives found no blood or DNA evidence linking the weapon discovered years ago to the Simpson case. The knife’s 5-inch fixed-blade also didn’t match the cuts on both of the victims’ bodies. The Los Angeles County Coroner, who provided his testimony during the “Trial of the Century,” testified that he believed the wounds to have been caused by a 6-inch blade.

The knife was found during a tear-down of Simpson’s former Brentwood home in 1998. A construction worker gave the knife to George Maycott, a retired police officer who was working on a film set at the time, but it only surfaced last month. According to Maycott’s lawyer, he tried to turn the knife over to the police department a few years later but when he saw no interest on their behalf, he put the knife in a toolbox where it stayed for more than a decade.

We’re not surprised. It all seemed too good to be true.
