Justin Bieber Allegedly Being Sued for Millions by R&B Duo for Stealing Song

Justin Bieber is allegedly being sued for $10 million after RnB singers Devin Copeland and Mareio Overton claim he ‘stole’ his hit “Somebody To Love”.

The Baby singer released the song in 2010, which also featured on the album My World 2.0, but the pair are claiming that they wrote the song in 2008 for their own album, My Story II.

In the lawsuit, filed on Thursday in U.S. District Court in Virginia, Copeland and Overton allege that they applied for and were granted the copyright to the song, which was then taken to major labels such as Island and Sony.

Reportedly, the song landed into the hands of Usher – who went on to record a demo of the song.

In the court papers, Copeland and Overton allege that they eventually got in contact with Usher’s mother and ex-manager, who said the singer had heard Copeland’s album and even wanted him to join him on tour.

However, Usher’s demo of ‘Somebody To Love’ later surfaced on YouTube, resulting in Bieber including it on his 2010 album.

Copeland and Overton claim there are a number of similarities between Justin and Usher’s versions including the chorus hook, time signature and the use of chords, and are seeking a minimum of $10 million in light of the alleged copyright infringement.
