Jamie Foxx Defends His Mayweather-Pacquiao National Anthem on ‘Ellen’; Blames Equipment Mishap [Videos]

Those tuned in to Saturday’s Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao showdown were likely scratching their heads after Jamie Foxx’s questionable rendition of The Star Spangled Banner.

While it’s no secret that Jamie can sing, his rendition was both off-key and off-beat at times, and the singer faced an onslaught of criticism across social media.

Jamie finally addressed his national anthem performance, and as expected, he was a good sport about it.

Jamie spoke with multiple news and entertainment sources, but we enjoyed his interview with Ellen DeGeneres the most.

Jamie had the following to say (and his words have been paraphrased):

“I sung the national anthem. Now some people were a little upset by how it went down. But here’s the thing… what happened in the ring, my inner ears were out, and I’m singing with an organ, so I can’t hear what the organ is doing with the big crowd. So, some of it was a little off. But I think in the arena it killed. The telecast, it was a little off, but we still love America.”

And there you have it, folks. Watch Jamie defend his national anthem on Ellen.

Now watch his much-talked-about national anthem below.
