Beyond the Lights co-star Gugu Mbatha-Raw has joined the cast of Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.
Multiple sources are reporting that Gugu will portray Plumette (although the original character’s name is Babette), the sexy maid who later became a feather duster.
Tentatively set for a March 2017 release, the film will also star Harry Potter actress Emma Watson as Belle.
Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) will direct the film.
Expect a number of Disney live-action adaptations in the imminent future; classics Mulan, The Jungle Book, Dumbo and Winnie the Pooh are all receiving the reboot treatment.
