Evan Ross’ comes from a super talented family — after all, his mother IS the legendary Diana Ross.
He’s already made waves in the film industry with roles in Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and VH1’s CrazySexyCool TLC biopic, and now Evan’s ready to showcase his musical ability.
His new song & video, “How to Live Alone” premiered via PEOPLE.
“The whole album I’m doing right now has to do with love,” Ross tells PEOPLE. “I just got married and that whole thing, and it definitely has to do with that and where I’m at in life.”
In the video, Simpson makes a small cameo, embracing Ross while he’s in the studio. But she’s not the only important lady in his life to make an appearance.
“[My mom] comes into the studio and helps me,” says Ross of the legendary Supremes singer. “She’s so good at it, and she’s been doing it so long. And she’s such a perfectionist. Sometimes I’ll be like, ‘Let me have a few practices before she comes in to hear it.’ ”
When it comes to his mom, “a lot of people are like, ‘That’s Diana’s son, what is he going to do?’ There’s always been a lot of pressure,” says Ross. “But at the same time, you’ve got to do your own thing.”
At least one person is already a major fan. “I’m pretty positive Ashlee enjoys my singing, at least most of the time,” he says. “We sing together all the time, we’re so close.”
