Divorce Court’s Judge Toler Addresses Her Departure, Wants Audience to Give Replacement Faith Jenkins a Chance [Video]

“I couldn’t wait any longer because the news is coming out and I wanted you to hear it from me,” she said in a video posted to Twitter on Thursday. “I’ve left Divorce Court, we parted ways. I had 13 great years. It was time to move on,” she added.

But she has no sour grapes for her successor, a New York-based attorney, who served as host of her very own syndicated judge show “Judge Faith” from 2014 to 2018.

“I remember when I took over for Judge Mablean,” she said, referring to the original host of “Divorce Court,” Mablean Ephriam. “There was a lot of consternation and people got cranky because people don’t like new things. But I’m saying give her a chance, because she’s really good at what she does. She’s going to be different, she’s going to be good.”

The past two seasons of “Divorce Court” were filmed at Tyler Perry Studios. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the new program will move to Georgia Public Broadcasting studios for season 21 in 2020-21.

“I started watching ‘Divorce Court’ in law school, so to be now joining the show is quite surreal,” Jenkins said. “My legal expertise combined with my personal life experience — including years of dating in the world of social media and technology — provides me a unique perspective that will inform my empathy and judgment for many of the issues couples raise on the show.”

Jenkins, who is engaged to R&B crooner Kenny Lattimore, has provided legal commentary for all three major cable news networks over the years and was recently featured on Wendy Williams “Hot Talk” panel.

According to Deadline, the former pageant queen and Southern University Law School graduate will join take over the bench in July.

“We are confident that Judge Faith’s energy and passion for each case will build on the legacy of this program created by the exceptional talents of Judge Mablean and Judge Lynn Toler,” Fox Television Studios executive vice president of programming Stephen Brown said.

Toler, who authored three books and has appeared on “Marriage Boot Camp,” teased that “some new things” were on the horizon,” before assuring her fans, “You will be hearing from me — sooner rather than later is the plan.”
