Cissy Houston Blasts ‘Whitney Houston’ Lifetime Biopic: ‘Please Let Her Rest’

Whitney Houston’s mom, Cissy Houston, has voiced her complete disapproval of the planned Lifetime biopic about her daughter, releasing a nasty statement to Entertainment Tonight.

Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family’s objections,” the statement reads. “No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby [Brown]. In the two years since Whitney’s death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn’t know her. We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please please let her rest.”

It’s to be noted that Angela Bassett, who is directing the biopic both knew and co-starred with Whitney in 1996’s Waiting to Exhale. Deobrah Cox, who is reproducing Whitney’s vocals for the film, also worked with Whitney in 2000 when the did the song “Same Script, Different Cast”.

We do find it a little hypocritical that Cissy’s preaching ‘let her rest‘ when Cissy herself wrote and released a tell-all book about her daughter’s life.
