Can’t access Instagram or Pinterest? Can’t stream via Netflix? You’re not the only one.
The severe storms that knocked out power to more than 1 million customers in the D.C. area Friday night also took out a major Amazon Compute Cloud in Northern Virginia, according to Forbes.

As of 11:21 PM EST Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud in North Virginia went down, due to severe thunder storms in the area. Amazon EC2 runs many major websites and services. Netflix, Instagram, and Pinterest have all been taken out of service during the outage.
Pinterest posted a message on Twitter at 2:05 a.m. alerting users that service was restored.
