Buffalo Wild Wings Gives Homeless Man Free Meals for an Entire Year After an Employee Leaves a Nasty Note on His Receipt [Photos]

Buffalo Wild Wings is stepping up after an employee at a Louisiana location left a nasty note on a homeless customer’s receipt.

The company has gifted the man with a year’s supply of free food.

The popular chain’s outpost in Lake Charles, La., faced scrutiny Monday after an image showing the man’s receipt was shared to Facebook by a fellow patron.

The employee who penned the message — “For homeless f–k! Let sit and get gross” — reportedly did not intend for the man to see it, but he did, and passed it along to other customers, including Kailynn Weston.

“He said, ‘You all know that I’m homeless, I don’t have anywhere to live,’ and it just really upset me,” Weston told local NBC affiliate KPLC-7. “And I was like, ‘That’s not OK, one, for someone to treat a customer like that, let alone a customer in his condition.”

Weston told the outlet she approached the restaurant’s manager and demanded the employee or employees involved face consequences for their actions.

“I said, ‘This isn’t right and I demand that she get fired or something happen because I won’t come here anymore, for sure, and I’ll let other people know not to come here anymore, because it’s not OK,'” she said. The 26-year-old’s determination paid off, as regional manager Ray Rhodes said the chain will remedy the situation by giving the man a coupon book good for a year’s worth of free wings, a Walmart gift card so he can purchase new clothes, a hotel room and donations to a local homeless shelter.

“It’s embarrassing for this gentleman and it’s very inhumane on the part of the employees. It’s not our culture and it’s not who we are,” Rhodes told the outlet.

He added that the employees involved will by fired by Monday.

In photos shared to Facebook by Kelli Tidwell Stawecki of the Water’s Edge Gathering Church, Rhodes seemed to make good on his promise, as she wrote that her homeless outreach center had received more than 800 free wings.

“In 7 years that I’ve been doing this we have never given out Wings. I think this is their new favorite!!” she wrote.

It’s an unfortunate situation, but shout out to BWW for trying to make the best of it.
