Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have decided to buy the $8.1 million home they’ve been renting in D.C. as they settle into life post-presidency.

A spokesman confirmed to the Chicago Sun-Times that the Obamas are settling down in the same Kalorama neighborhood house in Washington while keeping their home on Chicago’s South Side.
“Given that President and Mrs. Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property,” spokesman Kevin Lewis said.
Though her sister Malia is preparing to study at Harvard in the fall, Sasha Obama is still studying at the exclusive Sidwell Friends in D.C., set to graduate in 2019.
The D.C. house itself is owned by former Bill Clinton press secretary Joe Lockhart and his wife Giovanna Gray Lockhart, Washington editor of Glamour.
They bought the house in 2014 for $5.3 million, records show.
We would prefer if they were back in the White House, but they deserve ALL the happiness in such a gorgeous home.
