Was anybody still actually watching this?
The CW has officially cancelled it’s 90’s reboot series 90210 after five seasons. The drama, which originally launched in 2008 as a ratings hit for the network, featured several stars from the original Beverly Hills, 90210 such as Tori Spelling, Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth, all whom eventually left the series after the first two seasons, declining to return.
Although the series premiered to high numbers, the magic couldn’t last and viewers soon stopped tuning in as 90210 this season alone slid from a million viewers and a 0.5 demo rating (with its opener) to, at last tally, under 600,000 viewers and a 0.3, shedding a significant chunk of its Carrie Diaries lead-in.
Sure, the show was great when it started, but eventually we lost the original charm and the story lines spiraled out of control.
The closure-filled series finale, which will likely be paired with a retrospective, is set to air on Monday, May 13.
