‘Survivor’s Remorse’ Star Jessie Usher Cast as Lead in ‘Independence Day’ Sequel

This young man’s star is definitely on the rise.

23-year-old Jessie Usher, who portrays Cam Calloway on the Starz series Survivor’s Remorse, has been cast as the lead in the upcoming sequel to Independence Day.

Initial reports suggested that the role would go to actor Michael B. Jordan.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Smith will not reprise his role in the sequel, but Cam will portray the son of Will’s character Captain Steven Hiller.

Independence Day 2 is set for release on June 24, 2016.
