Nicki Minaj vs. Cardi B continues.

Nicki Minaj appeared on the Joe Budden Podcast and used the opportunity to take some not-so-thinly-veiled shots at Cardi B during the process.

Nicki blamed media figures, like Budden and DJ Akademiks, for instigating the drama involving “MotorSport,” and propagating lies that were intended to tear her down.

“When you’re insecure you tell lies—you tell lies because you don’t want others to shine based on their talents sometimes,” she said at the 24:40 mark in the podcast stream below. “So I am going to tell the real deal. I always have receipts to prove what I’m gonna say. Always, and that will never change. My point is there were a lot of people who I never said anything bad about who I thought I was cool with that jumped on the hate train. When you say a thing like, ‘We’re passed it.’ Yes, I’m passed it. Praise be to God.”

She continued to defend herself by reminding Budden about her “authentic come-up,” and how she was able to achieve success by relying strictly on her talent.

“I still had to go through these things because of people like you who made a sport out of tearing down a young, black woman who’s done nothing but come in this game with an authentic come-up, writing raps, and doing what the fuckin’ was really necessary,” she said. “No Instagram, no reality shows, no sucking DJs’ dicks.”

Many listeners believe the last part was referencing Cardi, who attained mainstream success after appearing on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York and amassing a large social media following.

But the suspected shade didn’t end there.

Nicki went on to talk about her status in the game and how, despite lacking certain accolades, was still considered one of the greats … unlike other unnamed artists.

“I would feel so fucking crazy if I had No. 1s and Grammys and ain’t on nobody’s top 50 list,” she said around the 66:30 mark.

Cardi has multiple No. 1 singles, a No. 1 album, and secured a 2019 Grammy for Best Rap Album (Invasion of Privacy); however, she wasn’t listed in Ebro Darden’s list of the top 50 rappers of all time. Nicki made the cut at the No. 33 slot, in between Cam’ron and Lil Wayne.

Not long after Nicki’s comments hit airwaves, Cardi took to Instagram to share a list of world’s top-performing albums, including Invasion of Privacy.

“Only list I give a fuck about,” she wrote in a caption.
