Say What Now? Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick Suggests Elderly Should Sacrifice Themselves to Save Economy From Coronavirus

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick implied late Monday that the elderly population should be willing to sacrifice themselves so the United States can “get back to work” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Those of us who are 70 plus, we’ll take care of ourselves. But don’t sacrifice the country,” Patrick, who turns 70 next week, said on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Even as the number of coronavirus cases continues to skyrocket, President Trump claims the country could return to business as usual soon.

“The hardship will end, it will end soon. Normal life will return,” Trump said Monday. “It’s a much shorter period of time than I’ve been hearing the news report.

But health officials, including Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, have said that the peak is likely at least several weeks away.

“I want America to understand, this week, it’s going to get bad,” Surgeon General Jerome Adams said Monday on the “Today” show.

As the death toll rises, the stock market has plummeted. The Washington Post reported Monday that Trump fears financial insecurity could affect his re-election chances in November.

“No one reached out to me and said, ‘As a senior citizen, are you willing to take a chance on your survival in exchange for keeping the America that America loves for its children and grandchildren?’” Patrick said on Fox News Monday night. “And if that is the exchange, I’m all in.”

More than 800 people in Texas have tested positive for coronavirus. At least eight have died so far.

The Republicans are willing to kill your grandma so they can keep their profits. Let’s just be thankful ‘The Purge’ isn’t on the table — because they’d probably vote in favor of that too.
