CBS News Dallas reported that Delissa, 47, of Seguin was charged with injury to a child by omission on Wednesday, July 10. Police believe living with the body inside the two-bedroom home caused “serious mental deficiency, impairment or injury” to her daughter.

According to the Daily Mail, Delissa was allegedly busted after the rotting remains that are believed to be her deceased mother, Jacqueline Louise Crayton, were discovered on Sunday, July 7, at her home in Seguin near San Antonio.

The report says police believe Jacqueline fell in her bedroom in 2016 and Delissa allegedly didn’t give her any help. After lying on the floor for a few days, Delissa’s mother died at age 71.

Investigators said Delissa and her daughter, who was under the age of 15, lived in the two-bedroom home for three years with the body.

Delissa could receive between two and 20 years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Police, who are still investigating the bizarre case, said Delissa’s teenage daughter has been placed in the care of other family members.

We can only imagine how bad that home smelled with a rotting corpse.
