Michael Sullivan, the half-brother of Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, was indicted on a charge of first-degree murder for his role in the death of their stepfather, Floyd Sullivan Jr.
A grand jury made the decision after a court hearing in January.
As REVOLT previously reported, Michael was named a suspect in the January 2020 fatal shooting of Floyd, who cops discovered at the scene of the crime with multiple gunshot wounds. Per Hip Hop DX, the gunman’s mother, Bernadette Walker, revealed he suffers from schizoaffective disorder, was having episodes before he moved in with his father and hadn’t taken his medication prior to the gunfire. Michael was subsequently placed at a mental health facility and held for a psychiatric evaluation before he was released and taken into police custody.
“Mrs. Shelton and I and the City of Tupelo are appreciative of Rae Sremmurd’s continuous community support,” Tupelo mayor Jason Shelton said at the time. “Please know that we and the community you love and call home grieve with you, are praying for you, and extend our deepest condolences to you, your entire family and friends during this difficult time.”
Floyd reportedly raised Rae Sremmurd ever since they were in middle school. Though the group has not yet broken silence on their half-brother’s charge, Swae did mourn his stepfather’s loss on social media. “I pray this world let’s me keep some compassion,” he wrote on Twitter. “I’ve been tested my whole life.”On his Instagram account, Swae captioned his post, “Life has a crazy way of making sure your still on your toes. OG Gone live forever.”
Michael’s case, TMZ reported, is not a death penalty case, but if convicted, he faces life in prison. His next court hearing and the start date of his trial have not been disclosed.
Such an unfortunate situation.
