One quick glance at our Facebook page and you see that folks have a lot to say about openly gay football player Michael Sam and how he celebrated his draft to the St. Louis Rams.
President Barack Obama shared his thoughts and congratulated Sam for being the first openly gay player to make the NFL.
“From the playing field to the corporate boardroom, LGBT Americans prove everyday that you should be judged by what you do and not who you are,” Obama said.
He also congratulated the NFL and the St. Louis Rams, the team that drafted Sam.
The All-American defensive end who played for the University of Missouri was picked by the Rams in the seventh and final round of the draft. He was the 249th of 256 players selected.
One historic moment led to another as Sam’s congratulatory kiss with his boyfriend was broadcasted across the world on ESPN.
Congrats again, Michael!
