Say What Now? Woman Faints After Jury Finds Her Guilty of Hiring Someone to Kill Her Husband [Video]

45-year-old Diana Lovejoy was found guilty in a murder-for-hire plot and fainted the moment she heard the verdict.

via NYDN:

In response to Lovejoy's loss of consciousness, the judge temporarily recessed the hearing, delaying the reading of a second conviction for a co-defendant in the same case.

Lovejoy was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder, both of which link back to a Sept. 1, 2016 attack on her estranged husband Greg Mulvihill, KSWB reported.

Weldon McDavid Jr., a 50-year-old Marine veteran, was convicted of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

According to KSWB, he shed tears as the jury read their decision aloud.

The prosecution alleged in court that Lovejoy accused Mulvihill, 45, of molesting their son and abusing her sexually. No evidence was ever presented proving her claims.

They decided to go their separate ways in July 2014, with the couple having joint custody of their child.

Just as their divorce proceedings were nearing an end, the attack on Mulvihill occurred.

According to KSWB, he received a phone call from a person who claimed they were a private investigator. The caller also told him they'd obtained dirt on Lovejoy, and asked that Mulvihill to go to a dirt road in Carlsbad, Calif., where he could pick up the package of materials pertaining to Lovejoy.

Mulvihill agreed, making the drive with a co-worker.

The outlet reported that he was using a flashlight to search for the package when, according to the witness, they spotted something in the bushes.

Both men believed it looked to be a person wielding a rifle, which was pointed in their direction.

Shots were fired, KSWB reported, and Mulvihill was injured.

After an investigation into the incident, police discovered that Lovejoy bought the phone used to place the call to her estranged husband.

They linked McDavid to the crime through feces found in the bushes in which the witness' claimed they'd seen someone holding a gun.

KSWB reported that they then found several guns in McDavid's garage along with a silencer and "blast bag" filled with shell casings.

McDavid's attorney argued that he fired shots only after hearing someone shout "I have a gun," according to the outlet.

"If Weldon McDavid wanted to kill someone with his skill set, he would have done so. … That was not his intent," his attorney said, according to KSWB.

It took jurors two days to reach their verdicts in the case.

Lovejoy and McDavid are facing 25 and 50 years to life respectively. They're due to be sentenced next month.

Ma'am -- there's no need to be extra. You're going to jail.

'Black Panther' Is Now Expected to Exceed $200 Million at the Weekend Box Office

Disney and Marvel Studios' Black Panther is making history at the box office.

After early projections put the film at a $170 million+ box office weekend, it's now on pace to bring in a record-shattering $205 million-$210 million.

via THR:

The tentpole earned $75.8 million on Friday, the eighth-biggest day of all time. Friday's gross includes $25.2 million in Thursday evening previews. Playing in 4,020 theaters, Black Panther drew a diverse audience on Friday; 37 percent of ticket buyers were African-American, while Caucasians made up the next largest group (36 percent), according to comScore. That sort of demo breakdown is unheard of for a marquee superhero tentpole. On average, African-Americans make up about 15 percent of the audience for such fare.

Black Panther will easily score the top February opening of all time and possibly the best showing of any superhero pic ahead of fellow Marvel title The Avengers ($207.4 million), not accounting for inflation. The movie's projected three-day haul of $185 million will also rank high up on the list of all-time openings. It will also mark the biggest opening ever for an African-American director.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, the $200 million film is a defining moment in Hollywood history, being a big-budget studio tentpole featuring a virtually all-black cast. In the film, Chadwick Boseman stars as T'Challa/Black Panther alongside Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis.

The story follows T'Challa as he is sworn in as king of Wakanda, a cloaked, technologically advanced nation in Africa that's home to the exotic metal vibranium, which powers much of Black Panther's tech.

Black Panther has generated enormous buzz in recent weeks, selling more tickets in advance than almost any other movie before it.

Two years ago, Deadpool became the February champ when taking in $152.2 million over the four-day Presidents Day weekend.
