So Sad: Sky Diver Sends a Video to His Wife Saying He’s ‘Not Going to Pull the Cord,’ Before Jumping to His Death

27-year-old licensed sky diver, Capotorto Vitantonio, leapt to his death Tuesday — moments before his wife begged dispatchers not to let him jump.

His wife, 25-year-old Costansa Litellini rushed to Skydive DeLand in Florida to warn that her husband planned to commit suicide during his jump.

via NYDN:

Litellini had just seen a video her husband sent her saying that he was “not going to pull the cord and that he was going somewhere wonderful,” police said, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Richards contacted the plane, but got word that the man had already jumped.

Police searched the area around Skydive DeLand on Flightline Bvld. for Vitantonio and found him face down in an open field near the runway at around 10 a.m., according to a police report obtained by the Orlando Sentinel.

DeLand Police said Vitantonio, 27, jumped and did not pull the cord to deploy his parachute.

Richards told police that Vitantonio had behaved normally before he jumped.

A chaplain delivered the news to Litellini.

The United States Parachute Association recorded 3.2 million parachute jumps last year, 16 of which were fatal.

Vitantonio’s death is Skydive DeLand’s fifth in four years, WKMG reported.

So sad.
