Bill Maher is no stranger to crossing the line for shock value, but on Friday’s episode of ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ he took things entirely too far.
While speaking with Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Nebraska), Bill said that he’s a ‘house nigger’ and therefore wouldn’t work in the fields.
The conversation was in reference to Sen. Sasse’s book, The Vanishing American Adult: Our Coming-of-Age Crisis and How to Rebuild a Culture of Self-Reliance and went as follows:
“Adults dress up for Halloween, they don’t do that in Nebraska?” Bill asked.
“It’s frowned upon,”Ben replied. “We don’t do that quite as much.”
“I gotta get to Nebraska more,”Bill said.
“You’re welcome; we’d love to have you work in the fields with us,”Ben joked.
“Work in the fields,” Bill laughed. “Senator, I’m a house nigger.”
“You still working in the fields out there, huh?”Bill continued.
“Yeah,” Ben replied. “We want our kids to suffer.”
We’re truly at a loss for words. Not only should he apologize, but he should lose his job.
