Man Arrested for Subway Muggings After His Own Mother Saw Surveillance Footage and Turned Him In

What would you do if you saw your child on surveillance footage mugging unsuspecting subway riders?

If you’re like 34-year-old Kevin William’s mother, you’d call the police and turn him in.

via NYDN:

Cops arrested Kevin Williams, 34, after his mother recognized him in a surveillance video released by cops asking the public’s help cracking the case. The mother told a friend, who went to police, sources said.

Williams, who lives in a Harlem shelter, is accused of robbing two women while covering their faces with the creepy cloth. There were no harmful substances on the cloth.

He was picked up by cops Thursday.

A Manhattan Criminal Court judge ordered him held on $100,000 bond when he was arraigned on two counts of robbery.

He snuck up behind a 50-year-old woman at the Spring St. station and covered her nose and mouth with a white cloth about 11 a.m. June 13, according to cops.

He then threatened the woman with a knife and ran off towards Sixth Ave. with $70, cops said.

Four days later, Williams robbed a 49-year-old woman on the same subway platform around 10 a.m. He again held a white cloth over the woman’s face and brandished a knife, cops said. The woman dropped her purse and Williams ran off with the woman’s wallet and $75.

Neither victim was hurt.

Mother knows best, right?
