It’s no secret that Issa Rae is a major Drake fan. In fact, she even included Drake lyrics as easter eggs in episodes of Insecure.
Rumor has it that on Sunday night, after the Golden Globes, she attended an afterparty where Drake was DJing and he invited her to another party later that night — but she didn’t go.

According to E! News, Drake spotted Issa and “made his whole group stop so he could go talk to her.” Then “he asked her if she wanted to come to the Netflix party with him.” Unfortunately for Drake, sources at the party say Rae denied him, responding that “she was with all her friends” before walking away.
Another party guest says they saw Drake flirting with Rae. “He thinks Issa Rae is beautiful and talented,” the attendee explains. “He would like to take her on date if he was given the opportunity. He talks highly of her talents to people.”
Thursday evening, Rae responded to a tweet from E! that said she “turned down Drake.” She had a correction to make and suggested a new headline that read: “Obsessed Fan Who Dedicated Entire Season to Artist Continues to Shamelessly Fangirl When She Sees Him at Party Later.”
For what’s it worth, while Rae took the time to reply to the rumor, she technically didn’t deny that it happened.
She seemed pretty excited about seeing Drake at the party on Sunday night, even posting a video of herself calling him “Zaddy” as he was busy “z-jaying.”
Later, Rae filmed a video of herself explaining how great her night was. She gushed, “I was at a party where Drake was the DJ, and I must say that he was a phenomenal DJ. He played all the correct tracks. The playlist was simply correct.”
“I’m pleased,” Rae added.
We’re sure Drake and Issa will cross paths again.
