‘Get Out’ Crosses $100 Million at U.S. Box Office

It’s official: Get Out is a runaway success at the U.S. box office.

Jordan Peele’s directorial debut is expected to cross the $100 million mark tonight and should end the weekend with an overall haul of $111 million.

The success of Get Out is exceptional for a number of reasons. For starters, it cost just $4.5 million to make. Additionally, as Deadline pointed out, while most genre films see significant drops in subsequent weeks, Get Out continues to perform well at the domestic box office. Lastly, Get Out is one of few films to earn a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes (as of this writing, Get Out currently has a 99% rating based on a whopping 177 reviews).

Get Out becomes the second film fronted by a black actor to cross the $100 million mark this year.
