Did you catch last Wednesday’s episode of Empire?

If you did, then you saw Gabourey Sidibe’s character Becky get hot & heavy with Empire’s Gutter Life Records’ artist J-Poppa on the rooftop.

If you’ve been on social media since then, you may or may not have come across a rude meme or comment aimed at Gabby and her on-screen sexuality.

In a blog for EW, Gabby not only recapped the episode — but she also fired back at everyone who had something negative to say.

She wrote:

Also, yes. I, a plus sized, dark-skinned woman, had a love scene on primetime television. I had the most fun ever filming that scene even though I was nervous. But I felt sexy and beautiful and I felt like I was doing a good job. I’m very proud of the work we all did to make that scene a great opening for the episode. I keep hearing that people are “hating” on it. I’m not sure how anyone could hate on love but that’s okay. You may have your memes. Honestly, I’m at work too busy to check Twitter anyway. #Booked. Hope you enjoy next week’s show!

That’s right, Gabby! #Booked. Read the rest of Gabourey’s recap here.

  1. Love her attitude and response. I read reviews about the scene prior to viewing the episode. Honestly it wasn’t that bad. Yes she’s plus size, but no it wasn’t gut wrenching to watch. Why so much hate?

  2. I Loved when she threw that hamhock up on his waist. Lawd!! Best moment of the show.

  3. i loved it it and i think she is wonderful
