Sad news! One of our favorite HGTV shows is coming to an end.

Chip and Joanna Gaines have announced that they’re quitting ‘Fixer Upper’ after its upcoming fifth season.

via EW:

“It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last. While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with,” the couple wrote on their blog, “Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place.”

The show first premiered in 2013 and the Waco, Texas, couple and their family instantly warmed their way into the hearts of viewers around the globe, becoming one of the highest rated shows in HGTV history in just the span of a couple years.

“Our beautiful children are growing up so quickly,” said Joanna in a video announcing the decision. “The idea that we get to step back, get fresh with vision, get some rest, and hunker down with our kiddos is something that we’re excited about.”

The couple has expanded their business beyond their HGTV show, including retail compound Magnolia Market at the Silos in Waco, furniture lines, a quarterly magazine, a real estate company, a luxury vacation rental property, and a New York Times best-selling book. Chip has written a second book, Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff, due out Oct. 17.

The news is shocking to fans, but don’t worry. The couple makes it clear that they are not going anywhere. “We believe in our hearts that we’re going to see you again right around the corner, so stay tuned,” Chip said.

Chip and Jo have certainly made the most of their four short years on television and have countless projects to focus on. We wish them the best of luck!
