Donald Trump Says the NFL Should Fire Players for Kneeling During the National Anthem, Takes Shots at Colin Kaepernick: ‘Get That Son of a B*tch Off the Field’ [Video]

Donald Trump went on a random tirade against the NFL and Colin Kaepernick and urged the organization to fire players who chose to exercise their first amendment right to protest during the National Anthem.

Trump, speaking at a raucous rally in Huntsville, Ala., on Friday night in support of incumbent Sen. Luther Strange in the runoff election, didn’t specifically mention Kaepernick by name.

But Trump took an apparent shot at the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback when he said, “Luther and I and everyone in this arena tonight are unified by the same great American values. We’re proud of our country. We respect our flag.”

He continued: “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, say, ‘Get that son of a b—- off the field right now. Out, you’re fired!’”

Kaepernick controversially refused to stand during the national anthem in protest of police brutality.

While Kaepernick was widely criticized by those who saw his actions as “un-American”, he also inspired many other athletes to do the same.

On Friday, ESPN’s Jemele Hill tweeted, “Prediction: Not one NFL owner, not Roger Goodell will say one word about what [Trump] said about Kaep or other NFL players. Not. A. One.”

Hill came under fire last week for tweets referring to Trump as a “white supremacist” and continued to express her disapproval of the president after his comments in Alabama.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter Bernice King said, ‘A nation is people, not a symbol. A protest for the eradication of racism that violates millions of those people is not disrespect.”

Kaepernick also had the support of Minnesota Vikings running back Bishop Sankey, who tweeted, “It’s a shame and disgrace when you have the President of the US calling citizens of the country sons of b——.”

Donald Trump Jr., on the other hand, highlighted his father’s remarks, writing, “Love this: @realDonaldTrump on NFL players disrespecting our flag/anthem: “get that son of a b—- off the field right now – YOU’RE FIRED!”

Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the 49ers in May 2017 and continues working as an activist while he remains unsigned.

Trump has previously taken credit for Kaepernick’s free agent status, and criticized his protest by saying he should “find a new country that works better for him”.

Alright. Let’s see if the NFL and other players decide to take a stand for their own rights. It’s bigger than Kaepernick now.
