Change of Plans: Chrisette Michele Performed at Donald Trump's Inaugural Ball for a Reported $250,000

Chrisette Michele couldn't take the inauguration heat, but she still plans on taking home a Trump check.

After she confirmed her performance scheduled for Donald Trump's inauguration concert, many were puzzled when she didn't appear on stage.

Chrisette opted to perform tonight at a much less-visible ceremony -- the Freedom Ball.

via NYDN:

Confidential first reported that the Long Island native would serenade The Donald —though she did not perform with Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith and 3 Doors Down at Thursday's inaugural concert, as her manager reportedly told Newsday.com that she would.

There was also no sign of Michele at Friday morning's inauguration, where TV game show contestant Jackie Evancho performed the National Anthem and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang “America the Beautiful.

Now we're being told by sources close to the presidential weekend that Michele has been scheduled to perform at one of tonight's inaugural balls, where she'll be a little less visible. That same source tells us that despite rumors that Michele would make $750,000 for her appearance, the actual number is $250,000.

Sources told us that when Michele reached her agreement with Team Trump last week, she'd committed to doing an “R&B set” after plans to do an ensemble gospel number fell through because other singers being pursued by event organizers wouldn't take the gig.

Michele's reps have not responded to numerous requests for comment from Confidential, but Essence.com reported on Thursday that the “What You Do” singer's management team had confirmed her intent to sing for the new Prez. Michele herself posted a bizarre "open letter" on her blog where she seemed to confirm the engagement and claimed to be a “bridge” of some sort.

Michele's decision to chirp for Trump could turn out to be a costly one. Director Spike Lee announced on Thursday that he'd decided not to use her music in his upcoming Netflix series “She's Gotta Have It,” because of her commitment to the controversial 45th President.

She was also slated to perform a Thursday night show at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, N.J., but less than half an hour after we broke news of the Trump engagement, the venue announced that the concert had been canceled because of a “scheduling conflict.” A sea of former fans have taken to social media insisting that they would no longer support Michele. Her next scheduled performance is at a casino in Biloxi, Miss., on Feb. 4.

She better learn how to make that $250,000 last. Check back later for the performance video...if you even care.
