I know it’s supposed to make its official debut tomorrow, but it was released on iTunes Japan not too long ago. Check out a preview of “Give Me All Your Luvin'” below. The full version should be arriving momentarily…
Edit: Download the preview with Nicki’s verse by clicking the picture! (hmm…I wonder what’s there now?)
“Give Me All Your Luvin'” finally leaked in all of its highly anticipated glory. I think it’s a cute record with an infectious radio-friendly melody. It actually reminds me of the Madonna I used to listen to growing up in the 90s. I could have easily done without Nicki Minaj’s verse. She gave us very much the ‘watered down’ version of Nicki, which was to be expected.[audio:http://www.electrolov3.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/madonna-give-me-.mp3]
Of course, the real star of the record is my girl M.I.A. who always delivers something fresh! She’s the much needed breath of life in this otherwise ‘safe’ song. I’m not saying safe is a bad thing, safe first singles usually ensure heavy radio play and lots of promotional appearances. The last thing you want to do is alienate your audience with something so different they don’t get it.
People are already calling the record “reductive”, and I agree. But I also think it’s purposefully reductive. How, as Madonna, do you release a single and avoid the Gaga, Rihanna, and Katy Perry comparisons? You release something that’s 100% authentically you. When everybody is trying to re-invent YOUR original style, you have to take it back to where you started it all. That’s what this single gives me. That, I think is the purpose of M.D.N.A.
