Kanye West's Breakdown Linked to Prescription Drug Issues

Kanye West is back at home and under supervised care, but he still has a long road ahead of him.

According to TMZ, the rapper’s breakdown was triggered, in part, by his failure to stick to his medication schedule.

Our sources say Kanye has long suffered from psychological issues controllable by medication. We’re told Kanye is steady on his meds, but deviated from the prescribed dosage … and that’s what led to the downward spiral and eventual mental breakdown.

It’s still unclear if Kanye flat-out stopped taking some of the pills or just decided to take different amounts — but we’re told he made the biggest changes in the wake of Kim’s Paris robbery. Doctors were able to keep Kanye in the hospital for 8 days, and during that time were able to medicate him, and get him more stable.

We’re told he’s getting outpatient treatment and he’s okay right now, but since he’s not under 24/7 observation … it’s up to him to stay on the correct dosage.

Kanye’s struggle with prescription meds isn’t new. In fact, he even raps about it in “FML” from his most recent album, The Life of Pablo.

“You ain’t ever seen nothing crazier than this n*gga when he off his Lexapro/Remember that last time in Mexico/Remember that last time, the episode,” raps Kanye.

Lexapro is a drug used to treat anxiety and depression — and withdrawals from the drug are known to be extremely intense. If Kanye is/was on Lexapro and stopped taking it for whatever reason… then this latest breakdown isn’t all that surprising.
