Kanye West will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Kanye follows last year’s recipient Beyoncé, who wowed with a medley performance of her self-titled visual album.
MTV released the following statement:
Yeezus has more than earned this honor, after years of releasing groundbreaking music and accompanying videos that have always pushed the envelope. From “Through the Wire,” to “Runaway” and “Bound 2,” his creative depths have never ceased to amaze us, and some could argue that his videos are complete masterpieces in their own right.
