Charles Barkley says NBA and NFL athletes deserve to get the COVID-19 vaccines before everyone else because they pay more money in taxes.His comments come as the NBA is dealing with several postponed games due to positive COVID-19 tests or exposure.
While discussing the aftermath of the Golden State Warriors vs. Denver Nuggets game, Charles said the following:
“We need 300 million shots, give a thousand to some NBA players … NFL players, hockey players. As much taxes as these players pay, they deserve some preferential treatment.”
Kenny Smith tried to help Charles clean up his statement, but it Charles made it clear that he meant what he said.
