Another win for diversity!
We reported last week that former Cosby Show actress Phylicia Rashad had been cast as a gay woman in the new CBS civil rights drama series For Justice, and today we learned that Dreamgirls‘ Anika Noni Rose has been tapped to star in the leading role.
According to Deadline, Anika will portray Special Agent Natalia “Nat” Chappel, described as “a cool, laser-focused, tough-as-nails FBI agent who works in the Criminal Section of the Department of Civil Rights Division and finds herself caught between the radical family she was born into and the professional family she has chosen.”
As we reported last week, Selma‘s Ava DuVernay will direct the pilot episode.
