Taraji P. Henson and Tracee Ellis Ross both won big last night at the NAACP Image Awards and both ladies took the opportunity to subtly address the controversy surrounding diversity in Hollywood during their acceptance speeches.

“We don’t need to ask for acceptance from anyone. We are enough, we’ve been enough and we always will be enough,” said Taraji while accepting her award for ‘Outstanding Actress In A Drama Series.’

Tracee Ellis Ross also spoke on importance of having an awards show that celebrates and honors Black talent.

While accepting her award for ‘Outstanding Actress In A Comedy Series,’ she told the audience, “Thank you NAACP for seeing us, for celebrating us, for recognizing us and for giving us this moment to see each other and our beauty and our talent and our power and our voice and who we are.”
