Melonie Joyce Martin, the South Cobb girls coach, was standing about two inches from the face of Coach Tyrone Harris when she allegedly bit him, the warrant states. An assistant principal and two other coaches then watched as Martin allegedly threatened to harm Harris on Jan. 9.

“I’m about to beat your (expletive) and stomp you, and I’ll beat your (expletive) and knock your teeth out of your face,” Martin allegedly said.

Martin also threw a chair at Harris and threatened to burst his “grill,” witnesses told school police. The incident happened after the South Cobb girls team lost to Campbell High School.

On Jan. 13, an arrest warrant was issued for Martin, and she surrendered that evening at the Cobb County jail, records showed. Martin, of Stone Mountain, was charged with terroristic threats and acts, a felony, and simple battery, a misdemeanor. She was released about seven hours later after posting $7,500 bond, booking records showed.

The Cobb County school system did not respond to a Channel 2 Action News request for information regarding Martin’s employment and coaching status. Martin is a language arts teacher, according to the school’s website.

Biting someone’s nose? How does a person even get that close to another person to allow that to happen?
