Chris Brown sat down with Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier for a one-on-one interview to promote his album and get his public image back on track — and as always Chris can’t have an interview without someone mentioning Rihanna.

You would think that he would designated Rih as an ‘off-limit’ topic, but obviously he doesn’t mind talking about her.

During the sitdown, Kevin asked Chris about the current state of he and Rih’s relationship. He said:

“We’re friends. Nothing too serious… We’re not trying to start a life together right now, we’re just having fun.”

We were under the impression that they were done “having fun” — hmm.

If you’ve listened to his new album X, you may have picked up on some lyrics that might make you think of Chris & Rihanna’s relationship — especially the album’s title track and his duet with Jhene Aiko, “Drunk Texting.”

Did he admit to the songs being about Rihanna? Not exactly…

“Oh no, not at all,” Brown said. “I think that’s just the fans’ perception or the media’s perception at all times because of our history. But whenever we do music, people can make the assumption and that’s fine because if they buy more because they think that, then go ahead and buy a thousand copies!”

“But as far as me writing and going into that, I don’t really try to put my focus on Rihanna every song,” Brown continued. “At the end of the day it’s almost six, seven years later. It’s like, how many more times am I going to talk about the same situation?”

Check out a clip of the interview below.
