Solange recently announced her plans for Saint Records, her new label with distribution via Sony.
We knew her next album would see its home on the label, but what we didn’t see coming was Solange’s new 12-song Saint Heron compilation.
“With Saint Heron I really wanted to celebrate and continue to cultivate the community for genre-defying R&B artists. I’ve personally connected with all of these extremely talented artists, and am really excited for us to come together […] as a new movement for music. I’m also looking forward to SaintHeron.com being a home for music and cultural enthusiasts like myself who want to see content that really reflects the community we are a part of.”
The album will include material from Sampha, Jhene Aiko, Kelela, Sol, Jade de laFleur, Petite Noir, Starchild, BC Kingdom, Iman Omari, India Shah, Solange herself, and Cassie.
The compilation’s first and second releases are now available, but we managed to stumble upon this little clip of Cassie’s contribution to the mix called “Indo“.
Last month Cassie spoke to Vibe Vixen about the song and working with Solange, saying:
“She’s in the background. What she did with each artist was let them just rock on a song. She produced. She actually played everything on the song she did with me. She’s so talented yet such a cool person, down to earth. We had such a great time working together. We worked together on like five songs a minute ago. She hit me back up and was like, ‘I love the mixtape. I would really love to get in with you,’ so we went for it.”
