Rihanna’s River Island Collection Called ‘Fright Night At K-Mart’

Rihanna For River Island - Runway - LFW F/W 2013

This is a real shame; we had such high hopes for this collection!

When we heard that Rihanna was doing a fashion collection for London’s River Island, we were thrilled. The Barbados beauty is the epitome of ‘cool’ and her fashion is always on point, so what gives on this mediocre collection RiRi?

Rihanna was to debut her collection at London Fashion week…except not really, because her show wasn’t an official part of LFW. The next blip in the system was Rihanna’s tardiness…she made her entrance an hour late for a nine minute fashion show. Then when the clothes finally went down the runway, critics were quick to rip her to shreds.

“Rihanna’s collection for River Island as brought forth in London tonight was a horror show,” The Daily Beast wrote, “Rihanna claimed in a pre-show promotional video that her collection was ‘casual’, ‘chic’ and ‘flirty’. In the event it was like Fright Night in Kmart.” The Huffington Post chimed in with “Rihanna didn’t technically design the clothes. The singer worked with designer Adam Selman via email and phone calls and then attended fittings after samples were made, according to Vogue UK.”

The collection, seemingly inspired by urban 90’s street wear, doesn’t seem very everyday wearable, but no doubt the collection will sell to the massive amount of Rihanna’s fans, and Rihanna gets paid regardless, so what’s there to care about, right?

Check out some photos below from the show and tell us–would you wear Rihanna’s clothes?
