NIGHTLIFE: More Morton’s Please

Morton’s The Steakhouse
www.mortons.com
When you think Morton’s The Steakhouse, your mind goes to the obvious—steaks. But now it’s time to start thinking something off the beaten path—burgers. It’s summertime, and one of the best things about this time are all of the foods related to the grill. Now you can get a great burger from a fancy steakhouse without opening one bag of charcoal. There are Morton’s sprinkled across the country, and almost all of them are featuring this summer’s Sunday-only sirloin burger. It’ll cost you a mighty $19.78, a throwback to the restaurant’s 30 year anniversary. Don’t let the price tag deter you. Not only is it one of the best burgers you’ll eat with your choice of up to four different toppings, but a portion of the bill does support Morton’s contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. NIGHTLIFE: The Kress

The Kress
6608 Hollywood Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90028
323-785-5000

As if Hollywood didn’t have enough new spots, there’s another one that’s sure to create even more traffic on the Boulevard and encourage long lines outside its door. Take a historic department store building turned trashy lingerie shop and renovate it, sprucing up its innate Art Deco vibe with the glitz and glam of the city, and you end up wit ‘The Kress’.
Still in its soft opening phase, ‘The Kress’ has pulled in much buzz after its first weekend open to the public - or at least those in the know. Boasting a multi-level venue with a large, alluring dining area, an upstairs sushi lounge and a 360 degree cabana covered rooftop overlooking Hollywood, the restaurant is more like a tower of entertainment than an eatery. Salades de Provence!
+ April 14, 2008
There are only so many transplants that can survive a trip across the world. Salades de Provence is your mini trip to the Provencal countryside of France right in your backyard—if your backyard happens to be West Hollywood. Aix-en-Provence is the originator, and on La Cienega Boulevard between Holloway Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard, is its spawn. Organic and international—a combination hard to resist.
Welcome to Marie et Cie
+ March 24, 2008
In a world overflowing with high priced, over brewed lattes and mochas, there likes in limbo the corner coffeeshop—the kind of coffeeshop that asserts its name proudly amongst the commercialized clones. Although Marie et Cie may not take the fight to stay alive that far, it is a strong contender in the race. Nestled on the corner of Colfax Avenue and Riverside Drive, Marie et Cie’s is a gem of a neighborhood find. Half coffeeshop/cafe and half antique store, it offers two things most people to do—eat and shop. Read more
NIGHTLIFE: LA Mill Coffee
+ March 17, 2008

La Mill Coffee
(323) 663-4462
1636 Silver Lake Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90026
Hours are still moving around:
9am-5pm Tue-Sun; eventually opens 6am-9pm
• Restaurant, but more a serious designer coffee house
• Food options are limited and priced towards BMW 750 owners
• Very very friendly staff but service is slow and inconsistent
• Cleanest bathrooms in a Silverlake establishment, EVER!
LA Mill Coffee is one impressive “looking” hybrid restaurant and coffee house. Originally known for it’s high-end black-bean delights, this year the venue partnered up with a proper chef and expanded into the breakfast and lunch arena. But… if LA Mill were a radio show I’d have to call it “Morning Becomes Too Eclectic” for anybody to actually eat.
We here at Love B. Scott try to review restaurants and events that we think are fantastic recommendations, but this spot was so over the top odd and annoying we had to “ring the alarm” of concern. This is the kind of restaurant non-Californians mock us for. Tiny, fussy plates of food involving intimidating ingredients. And the ironic part is their mission statement is to provide simple, straight-forward fare.
We started with coffee. Wait, not “coffee”, but an orange infused cappuccino with textured (read: steamed) milk garnished with cacao. This was actually a fantastic cup of coffee, but the fact remains-it was still coffee, and I’m not entirely sure a cup should ever cost $6. Read more
The Waffle’s Griddle Grub
+ March 10, 2008
It’s the new kid in town, and The Waffle is trying to stay in the game. We decided to pay a visit to this much-hyped late night spot to see what all the fuss was about. With its kitchy brown, gold and burnt orange color scheme, it reminds us of a higher class Waffle House. Surely that can’t be a great first comparison. But unlike the Waffle House, the place known simply as The Waffle has a menu selection that should offer a little something for anyone. Click Read more
EAT It Up
+ February 11, 2008
Los Angeles’ NoHo Arts district has been on the up and up over the past couple of years—new high rise condos and apartments, cleaner surroundings and cute eateries for neighborhood patrons. When it comes to local restaurants, North Hollywood is not known for housing the top spots that feed the rich and famous, but that’s not why people go to the Valley anyways. The Valley is known for its slower pace and down to earth tone. And that’s why people are flocking to EAT. To read more click HERE!
Superbowl Mixology
+ February 1, 2008
It’s no surprise that this is the big Superbowl weekend! In honor of the upcoming football extravaganza, we’d like to give our love muffins a new way to spice up the cocktails at your party. Think of it as a precursor to the usual Work Your Weekend! When it comes to drinks, you’d be surprised what you can do with the average bottle of beer. All of these feature one of the best light beers from Tecate.

Tecate Mojito: Muddle six sprigs of fresh mint, 4 tsp. of sugar syrup and 2 tsp. of lime juice in the bottom of a tall glass. Add 2 Tbsp. of light rum (optional) and stir. Pour 12 oz. of chilled Tecate Light into the glass and enjoy!
Nueva Cuba: Pour 6 oz. of Coca-Cola into the bottom of a cold glass, followed by 6 oz. of Tecate Light. Squeeze a lime slice into the mix and drink up!
Bloody Bull Lager: Mix 2 tsp. of lime juice, ½ c. of spicy tomato juice and 2 Tbsp. of vodka (optional) in a glass. Pour 12 oz. of Tecate Light, and top it off with a crisp celery stalk!
Citrus Explosion: Pour 6 oz of citrus soda and 6 oz of Tecate Light into the bottom of the glass. Stir well and enjoy!
Try one or two of these suggestions, and you’ll definitely find that there’s more to the Superbowl than chips and dip!
