Wyclef ft. Shakira Jean — The Border
I love myself some Shakira. This Timbaland produced track is rumored to be a left-over from previous recording sessions, but I can’t help but think otherwise. It’s so different from anything that Wyclef or Shakira has released and it has a very current sound. Kesha — Backstabber
You may recognize Kesha (aka Ke$ha) as the guest singer on Flo-Rida’s hit single “Right Round.” Many of you probably don’t know that she’s done background vocals for a lot of today’s pop artists including Britney Spears and The Veronicas (she even co-wrote their song “This Love”). She’s teamed up with noted producers Dr. Luke and Max Martin for her debut album that doesn’t quite have a release date yet. Backstabber hasn’t been confirmed as a single, but I think it would be a good move. It’s fun, kinda quirky, and I really like the production. With two of her songs already being featured on The Hills, it’ll be interesting to see whether she can hold her own and stay relevant as a solo act. Link1/Link2

This week’s spotlight singer is Morissa! She is doing her rendition of Alicia Keys’ “Superwoman” and she has that voice that takes you to church. I like the way she makes it her own on certain parts. You better work it girl! If you like what you heard, visit her Youtube channel or Myspace page.

I don’t know if I picked him because he was so entertaining with the split screen or it was his talent. It might have a little of both and also his arrangement of Jazmine Sullivan’s “I Need You Bad”. Bruce is a good talent and very creative and the harmonies that he did for his background vocals were on point. Don’t really know if I’m a fan of his Jamaican accent but the rest is good. Love muffins I came across some of the best harmony I have heard in a while. Take me higher lord, they did a cover of Hezekiah Walker’s song “Grateful” Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find the name of the woman in this video with the amazing voice. The guy in the white shirt is Greg and this is coming from his YouTube channel and the other one has his name on his shirt, Daze. Nevertheless these three are incredible, make sure you check out Greg’s YouTube channel and Myspace if you like what you just heard.

Rebecca beautifully sung Katy Perry’s newest single “Hot n Cold” while she played the piano. I loved that she made the song her own and did not sing it like the artist. To hear more from Rebecca, visit her official YouTube channel or her Myspace page.

Love muffins, I just had to make JR Aquino my choice for this weeks YouTube Spotlight. I hate that the song was so short, but nonetheless he sounds great singing his version of Chris Brown’s “Forever” hit! After looking through several videos, I ran across Jess Chalker singing an original song “Said the Raindrop to the Seed (the You & Me song)”. Love muffins I almost fell out of my chair when I heard this man’s voice. Take me higher Lord, he is the closest thing we’ve heard to Luther Vandross that has covered one of his songs. This is actually sung as a duet with Cheryl Lynn and Luther, and he did both of them beautifully. The only thing is that I wish it were a longer video. I ran across Sungha Jung playing Stevie Wonder’s classic song “Isn’t She Lovely” on his guitar which blew me away. I truly loved this! B. Scott was rocking out to his acoustic version. 12 year old Jessica Sanchez is full of pure talent! Check her out singing “The Voice Within” by Christina Aguilera, her voice is just great! This girl has a bright future ahead of her, I can only imagine how she’ll sound when she is older if she sounds like this at 12! You have to check out more of her videos on her YouTube page!

Take me higher lord! Here is Tilly Key singing a splendiferous rendition of Mariah’s “My All”, and she worked it over! I love this acoustic version with just Tilly’s beautiful voice and her guitar. Check out 13 year old Justin singing a splendiferous rendition of Chris Brown’s With You! I had a hard time picking which clip of his to showcase because this talented kid has so many good videos! Take me higher Lord! Maria is one super talented and creative young lady! Here she is singing a splendiferous rendition of Madonna & Justin’s 4 Minutes To Save The World. Along with her lead vocals, she also provided us with her “musical recipe” consisting of: “1 set of House/Car Keys, 1 Vitamin C bottle, 1 Pen (use as drum stick), 1 scoop of Beat-boxing, 4 layers of Harmonies”, as she describes in her video description as the “a cappella ingredients”. Lisa Lavie’s voice is so rich and smooth – very soulful. Not only does she talk to her fans on a daily basis (yes she actually talks to them), she is such a down-to-earth individual. I love her original song “Angel” which has been viewed over 3 million times. Her album was finally released on iTunes about a month ago – please make sure you support her if you love what you hear. One of my dear love muffins told me to check out Airto, and I absolutely love him! He is a soul singer from the Netherlands with a voice from heaven. His rendition of John Legend’s “Heaven Only Knows” is nothing short of incredible! Please also check out one of his original songs entitled “You”, that beautiful ballad could be my wedding day song when I marry my future baby daddy! Love Muffins, check out Rio singing his rendition of Dru Hill’s “5 Steps”! If you are a fan of soul singers, then you will love him as much as I did! Remember when Lauryn Hill and Tonya Blount sang His Eye Is On The Sparrow as a duet for Sister Act 2? I really think you ladies should consider forming a new girl group or at least do more videos together because your voices blend so well together and it would be completely different from anything currently out in the music game right now!
