Rihanna dropped the highly anticipated video for her buzz single “Wait Your Turn” earlier today via her website. While I like the dark theme of the video, I’m not entirely sure what to think about it. It’s definitely going to give people something to talk about….that’s for sure. Earlier today, Ryan Seacrest confirmed the Young Jeezy assisted “So Hard” as being the official second single. He says:

Her second official single “So Hard” featuring rapper Young Jeezy, follows the album’s debut single “Russian Roulette,” a dark ballad which came as a surprise to many fans who expected a high-energy dance track.

In a recent interview, Rihanna finally opened up to Glamour magazine about everything from her new album and image, to domestic violence.

Domestic violence is a big secret. No kid goes around and lets people know their parents fight. Teenage girls can’t tell their parents that their boyfriend beat them up. You don’t dare let your neighbor know that you fight. It’s one of the things we [women] will hide, because it’s embarrassing. My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see, and they have followed every step of my recovery. The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. Mariah Carey performed an intimate gig in NYC for iHeartRadio’s ‘Stripped’. She performed “Always Be My Baby”, “We Belong Together”, “I Want To Know What Love Is”, and “H.A.T.E.U”. Vocally, she sounded great. She had great balance between her vocals and the vocals from background singers. I actually prefer watching Mimi perform in smaller venues and I think she needs to go ahead and do a small venue tour.

Omarion is making his return to the music scene offering a brand new video for his new single “I Get It In” featuring rapper of the moment, Gucci Mane. “I Get It In” is the first single to be lifted from his upcoming 3rd solo album Ollusion, which now has the release date of January 12th, 2010. Her current single “Heard Em’ All” isn’t doing so well on the charts (only peaking at #81 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart) so I’m slightly concerned about the album sales. Mariah Carey’s 12th studio album, Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel is on sale today (Amazon, iTunes)! I’ve been listening to this album non-stop since last week and I can honestly say that this is some of her best work. The album was produced almost entirely by The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, and Mariah herself and it’s clear that they have an undeniable chemistry as I feel this album is one of her most personal and cohesive albums to date.

Rapper Big Boi of Outkast is preparing to release a new solo album entitled Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty and now we have a track rumored to be included on the project called “For Yo’ Sorrows”. I really like the quirky production on this track….it’s very reminiscent of a few Outkast tracks. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not, because it makes me feel like André 3000 is missing from the song and I shouldn’t feel that way if Big Boi is trying to go solo. In any case, it’s a great, fun, song that’s worth a listen.

Seems like TMZ is working overtime today because they have just learned that Christina Milian and The Dream (Terius Nash) are now indeed married! The quickie nuptials took place at the infamous Little White Wedding Chapel, the same place where Britney Spears married Jason Alexander back in 2004. According to the marriage license, the ceremony took place shortly after midnight last Friday morning. C. Mili rented a $200 wedding dress while Terius sported a $100 tuxedo (including shoes, vest & tie).

I guess my girl Christina wasn’t playing around when she named her new album Elope. Coincidentally enough, last week a new snippet surfaced from C. Mili ft. The Dream called “Welcome To Vegas.” You can check out the track below! Congratulations to the newlyweds! I wish them the best of luck!

Whitney Houston will appear on Good Morning America on Wednesday (Sept. 2nd) to promote her brand new album, I Look To You, but due to the fact that she isn’t a big fan of early mornings, she decided to have her appearance pre-taped, which took place earlier this afternoon. According to numerous fans and longtime Whitney supporters, the diva’s voice gave out midway through her much-hyped performance.

She addressed the 5,000+ crowd saying “I’m so sorry. I did ‘Oprah.’ I’ve been talking for so long. … I talked so much, my voice,” she said, trailing off. “I shouldn’t be talking. I should be singing.”

Diddy took to his YouTube channel recently to introduce us all to his new group Dirty Money. The group consists of himself (by the name of Sean, not Diddy), Dawn Richard (formerly of Danity Kane), and newcomer Kalenna. I’m actually interested in hearing what his new sound is for this upcoming Last Train to Paris album (which recently got pushed back to November). In the video he explains where he got the name “Dirty Money” and also addresses a few rumors floating around about the project. It all makes a little more sense now, but I think it’s definitely something I’m going to have to hear to understand.

Fresh off of Whitney’s album release party comes a new track entitled “I Look To You”. The sound quality isn’t that great (it’s similar to the snippet that’s been floating around), but Whitney sounds amazing. I’d be a fool to think her voice is the same as it used to be, but with that said she can still sing circles around a lot of todays R&B females.

R&B singer Joe is back with a brand new album. Signature is his eighth studio album, but his second album released on an independent label. Despite not having much commercial success these days, you can always expect quality R&B from Joe. His fans won’t be disappointed with this album because as a seasoned veteran in the R&B game, he managed to write, produce, and arrange every track that’s featured. The lead single from the project, Majic peaked at #57 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

Maxwell returns from nearly a decade-long hiatus with his new 3-part album, BLACKsummers’ Night. The first disc is set to hit stores on July 7th, with the next two scheduled for release in 2010 and 2011. Love muffins, I have to say that I’m a little disappointed with this first installment. I absolutely love the lead single “Pretty Wings”, but this album leaves me feeling a little empty. Maybe because it’s only 9 songs? I’m not sure…this one might have to grow on me. Hopefully BlackSUMMERS’ Night and Blacksummers’ NIGHT leave me feeling a bit more fulfilled.

Don’t forget, Maxwell will be hitting the stage at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on July 4th!

I can not begin to explain how excited I am to share this with you all! Jojo has graced us with the official first single for her upcoming album All I Want Is Everything. A lot of people sleep on Jojo because she’s young, but I’ll tell you this girl has one of the best voices in the industry — hands down! “25 to Life” was previously recorded by Marsha Ambrosius (formerly of Floetry), but apparently that didn’t work out. While both ladies did an amazing job with the song, I’m beyond thrilled that Jojo ended up with the track!

This has just officially made my day! Mariah Carey has unveiled via Twitter that her new single “Obsessed” from her highly anticipated album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel will impact radio next Tuesday! The lead single was a collaboration between none other than The Dream and Tricky Stewart.

I can’t wait! I’m sure my fellow love muffins and lambs are just as excited as I am!

According to her official website, one of the greatest Divas of all time, Whitney Houston, is set to release her comeback album which is rumored to be titled, “Undefeated” on September 1st, 2009! I’m beyond excited for her! The album is set to feature production from today’s top producers, including Stargate and Swizz Beats.

Her lead single, “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” was penned by longtime collaborators Diane Warren and David Foster. Foster also worked with Whitney on her classic hit “I Will Always Love You”. This sounds like it’s going to be epic! It’ll be interesting to see Mariah and Whitney’s albums go head to head in the chart battle since they’re being released only a week or two apart. R&B songstress Monica is preparing to release her highly anticipated fifth album, Still Standing, this November. The album will coincide with her reality show of the same title that will be airing on BET. The show is set to document the recording process of the new album. Here we have two newly leaked snippets. The first snippet “Betcha She Don’t Love You” is an 80s inspired mid-tempo produced by Missy Elliott. The other, “Stay or Go” gives us classic Monica vocals with production from Ne-Yo. It’s a really nice, straight-up R&B joint.

It looks as though the incredibly talented Teyana Taylor is getting closer to the release of her debut album, From A Planet Called Harlem which is rumored to drop later this year. This brand new track, “Complicated” is different from a lot of the material we’ve been hearing from her. Instead of her usual flow, she’s actually singing on this track and she definitely delivers. I clearly forgot this girl has a voice on her! This is a very melodic slow jam that I think will fit nicely on any smooth R&B playlist.

Beyoncé premiered her music video for “Ego” today via her official website. It follows right along with the black and white theme seen in her previous videos. Visually, the video leaves much to be desired, but Bey nails the choreography and she looks great!

The video will be included in the I Am… re-release. Titled, Above and Beyonce Video Collection and Dance Mixes, the re-release will contain 7 music videos and exclusive behind the scenes footage (presumably from a video shoot, or from the tour) as well as a bonus disc of dance remixes. I’m not exactly sure why she chose not to do a complete video anthology for this album, but 7 videos is still an accomplisment. Above and Beyonce Video Collection and Dance Mixes is set to hit Wal-Mart stores everywhere on June 16th.

My girl LeToya has a winner with this one! This is the finalized version of her second single “She Ain’t Got…” (previously “She Ain’t Got Sh*t On Me”). I’m totally in love with this new version. Those electric guitar riffs are giving me my life right now! The latest word on her project is that it’s been pushed back to August, but that’s okay. Def Jam went on a rampage yesterday stopping the leak of Electrik Red’s debut album, but that doesn’t mean that people are going to stop talking about it. Trust me, they can use the promotion. This is probably one of the hottest songs on the album. The lead singer is giving me straight Kelis in this song. For a second, I thought Kelis was featured! She recently parted ways with her former label, Atlantic Records, for lack of promotion for her first album So Uncool. Below is a new snippet of a track called “Edit (You Out of My Life) “. I love the song and I really appreciate the fact that Keke is going for a more mature sound, while staying within the context of being a good role model and a lady. She’s showing us that growing up doesn’t necessarily mean ’sexing up’ your image. Keke has plans on announcing her new label later this summer.

The fabulous Jordin Sparks is ready to release her sophomore album this July. “Battlefield” is set to be the lead single off of this latest, yet-to-be-titled project, produced by super-talented Ryan Tedder. The song is a contemporary pop ballad that’s full of emotion, really showcasing Jordin’s powerhouse vocals. Tedder did an amazing job with the production, and of course the beat is laced with his signature sound — think Beyonce’s “Halo” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone.” With proper promotion, this song should do very well. You may recognize Kesha (aka Ke$ha) as the guest singer on Flo-Rida’s hit single “Right Round.” Many of you probably don’t know that she’s done background vocals for a lot of today’s pop artists including Britney Spears and The Veronicas (she even co-wrote their song “This Love”). She’s teamed up with noted producers Dr. Luke and Max Martin for her debut album that doesn’t quite have a release date yet. Backstabber hasn’t been confirmed as a single, but I think it would be a good move. It’s fun, kinda quirky, and I really like the production. The soundtrack to the film Twilight is at No. 6 with 40,000 units, Lady Gaga’s The Fame sold 40,000 sold at No. 7, No. 8 belongs to Day 26’s Forever in a Day with 37,000 and the Now 30 compilation lands at No. 9 with 36,000. Rounding out the top ten is Jadakiss’ The Last Kiss with 30,000.

Over on the singles side, Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow” remains the top-selling single in the nation with 226,000 digital downloads.

Usher — Radar
Radar finds Usher going in a bit of a different direction musically. This synth-heavy dance track falls right in line with the rest of what’s dominating the airwaves right now. The production is a bit generic, but it seems like Usher is finally getting his swagger back. I guess he decided to stop singing about his wife and decided to focus on his sex appeal again – definitely a good look. This makes me wonder what he’ll be giving us with his next album. Link1/Link2

Diddy ft. Yung Joc — Diddy Bop Amidst all of the Danity Kane drama, Diddy is gearing up for the release of his new album Last Train to Paris. This isn’t the lead single, but Diddy released this strictly for the clubs. I’m sure there’s a dance on the way as well. The song is just okay. Hopefully it’s not a representation of the whole album because Diddy makes it seem that it’s going to be groundbreaking and quite frankly, this song isn’t anything above average. It’s time for another Cover War! This time it’s between two artists who are both relatively unknown. Rin on the Rox and Canadian singer Elise Estrada. “Torture” was included on Elise Estrada’s 2008 self-titled album, and now was just recently recorded and released (via iTunes) by up and coming YouTube singers Rin on the Rox. These ladies started out singing in their bathrooms’ and later got their break when they were featured on the Ellen show earlier this year. Since then, their YouTube views have skyrocketed and the girls are in the process of recording a debut album. Their decision to record the song caused a stir with Elise Estrada’s fans causing Rin on the Rox to release this statement via YouTube:

Kelly Clarkson maintains her stride by spending her second week in the number one slot on Billboard’s Top 200, selling 90,000 copies of her All I Ever Wanted set. The album is down 65% from its opening week, but in this day of ever-declining music sales, this decrease is totally normal. Have you love muffins listened to the album? It’s actually a cute little pop record – make sure you pick it up on iTunes.

Next up is megagroup U2’s No Line On The Horizon with 76,000 copies in its third week of release. The Twilight soundtrack is bronze with 74,000 movements and just over 1.5 million total sold to date, followed by The-Dream’s Love Vs. Money with 56,000 scanned. Lady Gaga continues her climb with 50,000 units sold, up from 47,000 last week for Fame. The mighty Gaga is currently on her headlining club tour, hitting New York City in early May.

Country sweetheart Taylor Swift’s Fearless is sixth with 47,000 sold and rockers Nickelback in seventh with 34,000 sold of Dark Horse. Gorilla Zoe’s sophomore set, Don’t Feed Da Animals opens with 31,000, and Beyonce’s I Am…Sasha Fierce is in ninth with 27,000 in its 18th week on the chart. Jamie Foxx rounds out the top ten with 24,000 sold of Intuition.

I don’t know about y’all, but I’m excited to see how Keri Hilson’s In A Perfect World… opens. I hope it does well because it’s a cute little record!

Take a listen to this! “One In A Lifetime” (produced by Bryan Michael-Cox) is the supposed first single from Monica’s sixth studio album, Still Standing. It’s a nice, smooth R&B track, but I’m not sure if it has enough potential to be the first single. Be on the lookout for Monica’s Still Standing to drop later this year!

Love Muffins! This is the official cover for The Pussycat Dolls’ re-release of their Doll Domination set. Doll Domination 2.0 will drop April 14th and features 4 new songs, including “Jai Ho” (from Slumdog Millionaire), “Top of the World” (the theme for MTV’s hit show, The City), a remix to “Hush Hush,” and a previously unreleased song, “Painted Windows.”
