R. Kelly On Trial?

Love muffins, R. Kelly is going to trial on his pornography charge, maybe? It looks as if the defense attorneys filed a motion to postpone the trial once again, reasons were not specified. If the defense have their way then the trial will be put off again adding to the six years it has already been put off. If convicted, he could serve up to 15 years for not doing background checks on his nasty gutter butt trollops! R. Kelly was unresponsive to the crowd with some yelling “I love you” and others chatting “R. Kelly’s a pedophile”. Jesus take the wheel - it seems just trying to get a trial is going to take the 15 years that he could have just served and moved on. I’m not going to say whether he is guilty or not, but the defense is nervous on who may testify. Thoughts?

Amy Winehouse Drops 007

‘Jesus take the wheel’ and steer the vehicle known as, Amy Winehouse. Apparently she’s abandoned recording the theme to the latest James Bond film. Producer Mark Ronson who produced much of Winehouse’s Grammy-winning “Back to Black,” said in an interview with Sky News that she’s “not ready to record any music.” Ronson says the two started work on the track for the upcoming Bond movie “Quantum of Solace” but it would take “some miracle of science” to finish it. Love Muffins please pray that Amy seeks the help that she so desperately needs.

New Music: Maroon 5 Feat. Rihanna

Maroon 5 and Rihanna have teamed up for a remix to “If I Never See Your Face Again”. The original version of the track was featured on Maroon 5’s sophomore album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, but the remix featuring Rihanna is the new single for the re-release of their album. The new song will also be featured on Rihanna’s re-release of Good Girl Gone Bad which is slated to hit stores on June 17th. Despite critical acclaim and massive popularity, the latest efforts from Maroon 5 and Rihanna have only sold 1.7 million and 1.2 million respectively. It is easy to see why record companies would be so eager to re-issue their albums. The video was shot last week and is said to feature ultra-glam stylings reminiscent of the late-’70s/ early-’80s. Can’t wait to see what they come up with. In the meantime, Enjoy Love Muffins.

Danity Kane Are ‘Bad Girls’!

Diddy’s Danity Kane are setting out to prove that they can hold their own on “Bad Boy Records” with the release of their new single “Bad Girl.” Their second video from their highly successful sophomore album “Welcome to the Dollhouse” will pit them against the ‘Diva’s’ from WWE and is set to begin shooting in Los Angeles. I’m extremely interested to see what music video director Melinda has in store for this super duper high energy dance track!

New Music Release: Estelle - Shine

Love muffins, I just purchased Estelle’s album Shine, released April 29th, to let you know if it is worth spending your dollars for a 12 track album. I never was really into her music, but I thought that I would give her a try.

Estelle’s sound, explains John Legend, “is a unique blend of hip hop, pop, reggae and soul,” explains Legend. “She has a special voice, unlike any other voice out there in mainstream music, and she can really write. She writes hip lyrics with unforgettable melodies. I recognized that in her when I first worked with her in 2004.” He continues, “I’m excited and honored to have Estelle as the first artist on my label, Homeschool Records. I believe the world is going to fall in love with her album, as I already have. Estelle is an amazing talent, and she’s going to do big things.”

In addition, sparks also flew between Estelle and Will.i.am when they recorded the album’s first single, “Wait A Minute (Just A Touch)” anchored by an experimental spin on Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put a Spell on You”. The pair also came up with funk-infused “American Boy,” the second single after Legend requested “a hit!” Of the song, which features Kanye West, she laughs, “I gave the ladies and anthem!”

Alicia Keys Forced To Cancel Shows!

Alicia Keys has been forced to cancel her second straight show in a row in Cleveland Ohio due to a vocal illness. In addition to Alicia canceling shows, her opening act Jordin Sparks (American Idol winner) has also missed several shows due to a vocal illness. Something must be in the air love muffins, lets hope they both make a speedy recovery.

Mariah Carey’s E=MC2 Album Enters at #1!

Take me higher lord, Mariah Carey’s E=MC2 Album Enters at #1, on Career-High First Week Soundscan Sales of 463,000!!! Congratulations Mimi, that’s my girl!

• Mariah Carey crowns the Billboard 200 for a sixth time as “E=MC2″ starts atop the tally with 463,000 — her biggest opening week. It’s also the highest sales week of the year, surpassing the 375,000 start of Jack Johnson’s “Sleep Through the Static” in February. Finally, “E=MC2″ marks the best opening week for any album since Mary J. Blige’s “Growing Pains” started with 629,000.

• Carey is now tied with fellow divas Madonna and Janet Jackson for the second most No. 1 albums among female artists. Only queen bee Barbra Streisand, with eight, is ahead of the pack.

• “E=MC2″ is the eighth debut at No. 1 in as many weeks on the fast-moving Billboard 200. It follows penthouse-bows from Jackson, Alan Jackson, Rick Ross, Danity Kane, Day26, George Strait and Leona Lewis.

• Carey’s last album, “The Emancipation of Mimi,” also landed at No. 1 in its premier week, moving 404,000. “Mimi” spent two weeks atop the chart, was the best-selling album in the United States in 2005 and has shifted 5.8 million units total… This is the first time Carey has scored back-to-back No. 1 albums since “Daydream” and “Butterfly” reached the top in 1995 and 1997.

• Collectively, Carey’s albums have sold 50 million copies in the United States since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales data in 1991. Solange Gears up for Sophomore Album!

Love Muffins, we all know that Solange Knowles is a R&B girl, but non-stop hitmaker Lil Wayne has pitched in to offer guaranteed gold status his rap expertise on her soon to be released SoL-AngeL and The Hadley Street Dreams. Cee- Lo Green (of Gnarles Barkley) is also apart of Solange’s project and apparently, for Solange this is great on so many levels- professionally and personally. “I literally had to beg Cee-Lo to listen to my music but once he did he signed on immediately,” Knowles said. “We wrote and recorded [the tracks] ‘T.O.N.Y’ and ‘Sandcastle Disco’ that same week.” Solange’s new album will include guest appearances from Bilal (”Cosmic Journey”), Floetry’s Marsha Ambrosius (”Wanna Go Back” ) and Estelle (”Same Song, Different Man”). Raphael Saddiq will be producing the album along with Soul Shock and Pharrell Williams, who put in work on the album’s first single “I Decided.”

The video for “I Decided,” will focus on pop culture from the 60’s, which is great -I’m just dying to see something creative!

Billboard Latin Music Awards!

Love muffins, last Thursday PEPSI BLUE CARPET BASH threw an after party for the 2008 Billboard Latin Music Awards at the Spirits Night Club. In attendance was Kat De Luna who won her very first Billboard Latin Music Award for her hit song “Whine Up” featuring Elephant Man for the best Latin Dance Club Track of The Year. Also in attendance was Nina Sky (best known on their first mainstream Reggaeton song with N.O.R.E.’s smash “Oye Mi Canto”), D.E.Y. (bilingual Latino trio who incorporates pop, R&B, hip-hop, and Afro-Latino into one sound), Nely (producer to many stars including Daddy Yankee), and DJ Irie (official DJ to Jamie Foxx) and one of Miami’s best). Looks like everyone was having a splendiferous time!
