Mary J. is the Queen of Hip Hop and R&B and this song just could have been the one to really give her the title. “Not Gon’ Cry” came from the Waiting To Exhale soundtrack, and was the anthem to all the women fed up with monkey doodle foolishness. What am I talking about was – it still is to this day. It just makes you want to think of all the mess you went through and go get his stuff and sell everything for a dollar. Don’t burn his stuff though, because they try to call that a crime. Thank you Ms. Angela Bassett for your “Love Hangover” sale in the movie. Enjoy!

September 5, 2008 Flashback Friday: Kid ‘n Play

This video is one to get hyped to when you want to take a trip back to the early 90s. Everyone remembers Tisha Campbell and Martin Lawrence before they became big and it was because of these two rappers with the House Party movies of the late 80s and early 90s. Christopher “Kid” Reid and Christopher “Play” Martin gave us an era of what was called “happy rap” and it was fun while it lasted just to have a good time listening to music and jamming. Take me higher lord – this used to be the jam and I can still turn it on and feel everything they are saying. They were the first female rapping group who were able to let you know that they were soft women but had what it took to stand their own with the male dominated genre. Turn this up love muffins and get your groove on!

Take me higher lord, I just stumbled across D’Angelo’s (circa 2000) life changing orgasmic “How Does It Feel” and I swear every time I see this video I think I’m going to experience spontaneous combustion!
