It looks as though Robin Thicke is ditching his usual soul sound for more of a commercial hip-hop sound with this next album. “Shakin’ It For Daddy” (featuring Nicki Minaj) is set to be the second single from his upcoming Sex Therapy album. “Meiplé (Me I Play)” is another cut off the album that premiered on NYC’s Hot 97 radio station yesterday. Sex Therapy is set for release on December 15th.

Shakira is releasing the US version of her new album She Wolf on November 23rd and she’s including a few extra tracks for us. “Did It Again” was originally supposed to be her second US single, but now it’s the second international single and the Timbaland & Lil Wayne assisted “Give It Up To Me” is in its place. This remix featuring Kid Cudi is a bonus track from the US edition of the album. I like the song, but I wish they would have left the original beat intact.

Rihanna dropped the highly anticipated video for her buzz single “Wait Your Turn” earlier today via her website. While I like the dark theme of the video, I’m not entirely sure what to think about it. It’s definitely going to give people something to talk about….that’s for sure. Earlier today, Ryan Seacrest confirmed the Young Jeezy assisted “So Hard” as being the official second single. He says:

Her second official single “So Hard” featuring rapper Young Jeezy, follows the album’s debut single “Russian Roulette,” a dark ballad which came as a surprise to many fans who expected a high-energy dance track.

In a recent interview, Rihanna finally opened up to Glamour magazine about everything from her new album and image, to domestic violence.

Domestic violence is a big secret. No kid goes around and lets people know their parents fight. Teenage girls can’t tell their parents that their boyfriend beat them up. You don’t dare let your neighbor know that you fight. It’s one of the things we [women] will hide, because it’s embarrassing. My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see, and they have followed every step of my recovery. The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I know it seems like Rihanna overload, but she is really hitting us something serious with this music. The new track, “So Hard”, was just premiered on NYC’s Hot 97 radio station. I think the song is fire! She is really coming with these hard-hitting anthems! Not to mention, Tricky Stewart & The Dream did the damn thing with this production. UPDATE: After listening to the song a few times I’ve decided that I really like it. I love the Rihanna’s delivery and her attitude throughout the entire track. I also really appreciate how she went back to her roots with the Bajan accent. I’m super duper excited for Rated R.

Rihanna wasted no time hitting us with a second single. “Wait Your Turn (The Wait Is Ova)” is a completely different offering from RiRi. I like it…I’m not sure I love it…but it’s a nice track. I prefer “Russian Roulette”.

Britney Spears just premiered her brand new video for “3″ on her Twitter page and let me tell you that it’s hot! The super sexy video accompanies the hot-like-fire lead single from The Singles Collection, which is a compilation of Brit’s greatest hits (due out November 24th). She looks absolutely radiant in this video and the choreography is definitely a step from from what we’ve been seeing…but it still isn’t 100% Britney. Not to mention, she still relies heavily on her backup dancers to do the more complicated steps. Come on Brit-Brit! You’re almost there…

UPDATE: Another new track from Ush called “Blockin” has been added for your listening pleasure!

Somebody may be in trouble this morning after two new tracks from Usher found their way to the internet. “More” is another catchy club hit produced by Red One (which sounds very similar to their previous record), while “Daddy’s Home” is a sexy, smooth, R&B track produced by The Runners. Both of these tracks give us different offerings from Usher, so I’m left wondering what the final direction of the album will be. Not to mention, both of these tracks are miles better than “Papers,” which has been confirmed as a buzz single. Raymond Vs Raymond hits stores December 8th!

Alicia Keys is set to drop her new studio album, The Element of Freedom, on December 15th. The project’s first single “Doesn’t Mean Anything” isn’t performing as well as most of us would have expected, so it’s only fitting that we now have the second single from the project. “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” is another mellow jam & I actually like this one a bit more than the first single. I hope it does well!

Check out the long-awaited cover for Rihanna’s new album Rated R. Her new single “Russian Roulette” debuted only a week ago and has entered the Billboard Pop Songs chart this week at #35. The song will be available on iTunes on November 3rd while Rated R hits stores on November 23rd!

After being somewhat underwhelmed by “Papers”, I’m pleased to say that this new track to surface from Ush has turned my attention back his upcoming album Raymond Vs Raymond. It’s not often we hear Usher doing a pop-influenced track, but Red One is obviously the producer of the moment so of course Usher would go ahead and get his track. It has signature Red One production (hard continuous bass-line & lots of chaotic synths), but Usher’s voice sounds really good and does a good job of not getting lost in the music.

Mariah Carey performed an intimate gig in NYC for iHeartRadio’s ‘Stripped’. She performed “Always Be My Baby”, “We Belong Together”, “I Want To Know What Love Is”, and “H.A.T.E.U”. Vocally, she sounded great. She had great balance between her vocals and the vocals from background singers. I actually prefer watching Mimi perform in smaller venues and I think she needs to go ahead and do a small venue tour.

Omarion is making his return to the music scene offering a brand new video for his new single “I Get It In” featuring rapper of the moment, Gucci Mane. “I Get It In” is the first single to be lifted from his upcoming 3rd solo album Ollusion, which now has the release date of January 12th, 2010. Amerie’s new album In Love & War is set to hit stores on November 3rd. Her current single “Heard Em’ All” isn’t doing so well on the charts (only peaking at #81 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart) so I’m slightly concerned about the album sales. “The Wait Is Ova” as Rihanna’s new single premiered just a few moments ago! “Russian Roulette” was written by Ne-Yo and it serves as the lead single from her upcoming album which is officially titled Rated R and is scheduled for release on November 23rd! I think the song is a certified hit! Rihanna’s vocals sound amazing…miles better than anything I’ve heard from her to date. The song itself has somewhat of an epic feel to it that’s hard to describe. Here we have the finished, finalized, version of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.” An unfinished version has been floating around for a few weeks now and I wasn’t too thrilled with it, but Lady Gaga assured us that the final version would be much better. Well, she lied! It still has Red One’s typical, stale, production and it sounds like a rehashed version of “Pokerface.” This makes me question what exactly she’s going for on this re-release because I was under the impression that the new songs were going to be really different. If they are, then the label is trying to play it safe and keep it radio friendly with this poor single choice.

Last week we were given a small taste of what to expect from Alicia Keys’ brand new video for “Doesn’t Mean Anything”, and I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect other than that she would look absolutely stunning. Alicia hit us with another simple, yet sophisticated video that doesn’t draw too much attention from the song itself. It’s not my favorite video, but hopefully this P. R. Brown directed clip can give her single a boost on the charts.

Seems like things are really coming together for JoJo. She announced earlier this week that her label has reached a distribution deal with Interscope to distribute her new album, All I Want Is Everything! This is great news coming from an artist with such great material. The latest track to leak was produced by Harvey Mason & Oak and it’s a nice mid-tempo jam. JoJo’s vocals are near flawless as usual and she glides effortlessly over the production, even with the synthesized harmonies. The track kind of reminds me a bit of the song “25 to Life,” which she previously recorded. Now that we have all these promising tracks, all we need is a release date for the album. Come on JoJo!

Timbaland’s highly anticipated Shock Value 2 is set to drop on November 24th, the same day as Shakira’s She Wolf is scheduled to hit stores. I’m not sure if this is set to be the lead single from Tim’s project, but I think it wouldn’t be a bad look for either one of them. Shakira’s vocals sound great over urban beats, and Timbaland’s production is consistent as usual. Lil Wayne’s feature is okay…but it’s typical Weezy.

The Stargate produced “Never Knew I Needed” is rumored to be featured on the soundtrack to Disney’s new movie The Princess & the Frog. The movie will feature Disney’s first African American princess, Tiana. If this is true, then I think it’s a great honor that Ne-Yo’s music is featured as a part of such a historic movie. The Princess & The Frog opens nationwide on December 11th, 2009!

Mario’s new album, D.N.A. is projected to debut poorly after being released this past Tuesday. It’s predicted to see only between 20k to 25k units within it’s first week, despite the releative success of his lead single “Break Up”. His second offering from the project, “Thinkin’ About You” so far has reached #54 on the R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart. Maybe the new Chris Robinson directed video will help.

The Black Eyed Peas wasted no time getting this video out. As soon as their previous single “I Got A Feeling” dipped from #1 on the Billboard charts (after sitting at the top for 14 weeks) they released the video for “Meet Me Halfway.” I actually love everything about this video. Fergie looks great, the storyline is great, and I can tell that they really put a lot of effort into this video as well as their single choice. I wouldn’t be surprised if this song put the Peas right back at #1. If you haven’t already, go pick up a copy of The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies), which is in stores now!

Michael’s This Is It movie is still a few weeks away, but we now have the lead single from the documentary soundtrack. “This Is It” was recorded in 1991 for the Dangerous album, but it was never completed nor released. The track was completed with background vocals from his brothers. The song isn’t outstanding, but what I like about the song is that it’s pure, organic, Michael. Check out the track after the jump!

I told you all the other day about Mariah releasing Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel as a remix album and now we have the first offering from the project. The remix features OJ Da Juiceman, Gucci Mane, & Big Boi and heavily samples Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo.” I like the fact that the remix is essentially an entirely different song, not just a few added vocals or guest rappers. This way I can love the original and the remix for completely different reasons!

Jennifer Lopez is returning to the music scene after the dismal sales of her last album, Brave. This time Jenny is not playing around! It seems as though she’s hopping on the ‘alter ego’ craze by releasing this under the name “Lola”. “Fresh Out The Oven” was produced by The Neptunes and it’s straight fire! Pharrell took it back to his roots and laced us with old-school Neptunes production that compliments Jennifer’s (or Lola’s) weak vocals quite nicely. Pitbull’s feature is a nice touch as well. The song is believed to be the lead from her upcoming project which features production from Jim Jonsin, Stargate, Rock City, Danja, Red One, and Darkchild.

Usher premiered his new single from his forthcoming album Raymond vs. Raymond (orginally titled ‘Monster’) called “Papers,” written by Sean Garrett. Naturally, he’s milking his divorce with Tameka Foster for everything it’s worth…but hey, I guess you gotta do what you gotta to do to sell records these days. Although, I am curious as to what all will be revealed in the months to come. As far as the track, I’m not sure if it’s a hit or not…it sounds more like an album filler to me. Raymond Vs. Raymond is due out in December.

Thanks to Tapemasters Inc., we now have the Timbaland produced banger! “Skydiving” is pretty laid back track with Timbalands signature drum-heavy production. I think it could have been a nice bonus track for MOIA.

Mariah Carey’s 12th studio album, Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel is on sale today (Amazon, iTunes)! I’ve been listening to this album non-stop since last week and I can honestly say that this is some of her best work. The album was produced almost entirely by The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, and Mariah herself and it’s clear that they have an undeniable chemistry as I feel this album is one of her most personal and cohesive albums to date.

Rapper Big Boi of Outkast is preparing to release a new solo album entitled Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty and now we have a track rumored to be included on the project called “For Yo’ Sorrows”. I really like the quirky production on this track….it’s very reminiscent of a few Outkast tracks. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not, because it makes me feel like André 3000 is missing from the song and I shouldn’t feel that way if Big Boi is trying to go solo. In any case, it’s a great, fun, song that’s worth a listen.

This is the first time I can recall seeing Amerie play into her sexuality. I mean, she’s always been naturally sexy, but I feel like with this video she took it up a notch or two and I love it! It seems as though Joss Stone has gotten her label situation worked out as she just dropped a brand new single entitled “Free Me.” I actually really like this record, but I can’t seem to give it the amount of play it needs because the only think coming out of my speakers right now is Memoirs…. In any case, I think Joss is going to have success with this record because its vintage throwback feel is certainly unmatched right now considering what all is being played on the radio.

Love muffins and lambs rejoice! Today, as a part of Oprah’s live Friday concert series, Mariah Carey took to the stage to perform her new single “I Want To Know What Love Is” (which is now available on iTunes, along with pre-order for her album) and she nailed it! I can’t begin to tell you how ecstatic I am to see Mimi on stage singing for her life! She looked absolutely radiant & healthy in a skin tight catsuit with her throwback honey brown curls! Baby, when I tell you Mimi went for those notes, honey she went in! Watch for Oprah’s reaction around the 4:14 mark. Once again Mariah Carey proved that she is one of the greatest voices and artists of our time.

I honestly have no idea what’s going on with Jojo’s album. She recently filed a lawsuit against her label asking for $500,000 and to be released from her contract due to the fact that her label can’t seem to get their stuff together so she can release her seriously delayed All I Want Is Everything album. Anyways, a brand new track surfaced online called “You Take Me (Around The World)” and it samples Daft Punk’s “Around The World.” I absolutely love this song. I don’t know why Jojo is still so underrated because she’s super duper talented.

This is the second release from Madonna’s upcoming greatest hits compilation, Celebration. The double disc feature has 36 songs, all remastered versions of her old hits & a few new tracks. “Revolver” sounds too much like Britney’s “Radar” for my liking, and Lil Wayne doesn’t really add too much to the track. About 4 demos of the track have leaked over the last year or so and the final version isn’t much better. In all honesty, I can’t say that I’m really feeling this song.

Her VMA MJ tribute performance reminded me how much I love Janet and how much I’m anticipating her next project. What better time to drop a new song?
