1. Drink This! “Herradura Agave Kiss”

herradura-agave-kiss.jpg

Valentine’s Day is two weeks away. You may want to serve this to your honey or sip a few because you’ll be alone. It’s an amazing drink anyways!

2 oz Tequila Herradura Silver
1 oz white crème de cacao
1 oz double cream
1/2 oz Chambord
White chocolate shavings

Wet lip of glass and rum with white chocolate shavings. Place in refrigerator to keep cold. In a shaker with ice, add Herradura tequila, white crème de cacao, double cream and Chambord. Shake for 15 seconds and pour into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a fresh raspberry if you like.

2. Watch This! Trade

You may not be familiar with this film, but Trade did make a wave in the film world when it was first released last fall. The story centers around a teenager’s plight to save his thirteen year old sister who had been abducted by a band of sex traffickers. The terror and tension of the sex trafficking industry are brought to light, along with the underlying story of family, loyalty and love. It came out on DVD this week, and we definitely think it’s worth renting.

3. Wear This! “The Cardigan”

cardigan-bath-bolero1b.jpg

From long to short, solid to stripe, the cardigan is such a versatile piece for the Spring. Try the Bolero pictured above from Constance Eyre with a cute tank or go with a belted version like the one below from Missoni if you want to be a bit more covered up.

4. Hear This! Colby Caillat – Realize

We love Colby Caillat’s “Bubbly”. The title sums up everything the song invokes. “Realize” is slower, more thoughtful. It’s a slow realization of lyricism. What do you think love muffins?

5. Do This! “Superbowl Sunday!”

superbowl-42-logo.gif

It’s the biggest sports day of the year here in the States, and it’s second to Thanksgiving in terms of food consumption. While the latter is not really something to boast about, there’s no reason not to host a party or head over to a friend’s house. We have to admit that it’s a tad glamorized this year with Ryan Seacrest hosting a pre-show red carpet, and the halftime show featuring Tom Petty is nothing to get crunk over, but there’s always the commercials! If you’re looking for ways to keep your cocktail options fresh at this weekend’s parties, check out our Superbowl Mixology feature!

1. Drink This! “The Portuguese Mojito”
grapejuice.jpg

We just can’t get enough mojitos! And Asia de Cuba at Mondrian LA serves one that will floor you, so we figured this would be the best time to give you an idea just how splendiferous this twist on an old classic can be.

1/2 lime, muddled
1 packet of sugar
4-5 mint leaves, muddled
1.5 oz. Stoli vanilla
3 oz. soda
.25 oz. port wine reduction

Combine all ingredients and shake in a highball glass. Garnish with a mint leaf and Concord grape.

2. Watch This! “Be Kind, Rewind”

Jack Black is back with his newest film from French director Michel Gondry (think back to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). Starring as a regular Joe Schmoe with a magnetized brain, Black’s character ruins every single videotape in his friend’s—played by Mos Def—rental store. To keep the store’s best patron happy, they set out to remake every classic movie imaginable with the help of their neighborhood. It’s a mix of hilarity, sentimentality and fantasy!

3. Wear This! “Rainboots!
multiple-designer-wellies.gif

It’s a rainy week in Los Angeles, and all we can think about is keeping warm and staying dry. You should just use this as an excuse to get you a pair of rainboots for the season—or wellies as we’re told they are called. Everyone from Pucci and Burberry to J. Crew and Roxy have a line to showcase, so you’ll easily find one that suits your style and your budget.

4. Hear This! Adele London’s “Chasing Pavement”
adele_l.jpg

Now that Amy Winehouse is officially off her rocker, here’s another British singer/songwriter who may rise in Winehouse’s shadow. One of our love muffins suggested we give the rest of you a taste of Adele London, so here’s her single “Chasing Pavement”. It’s obvious that she’s been influenced by a classical combination of soul, blues and jazz, and the comparisons to Winehouse are valid. But it’s clear she’s her own kind of shining star, evidenced by her shows with Paul McCartney and Bjork. Not to mention her own sold out shows. Go HERE for more on Adele!

2. Watch This! Cassandra’s Dream

Although this film is going up against a couple of other flicks with bigger buzz (ie. Mad Money, Cloverfield and 27 Dresses), it wouldn’t be fair to not throw a few publicity bits to this one. Cassandra’s Dream is Woody Allen’s latest film starring Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor as two brothers whose family ties are tested when they are propositioned to commit a crime. If you’re a fan of familial strifed and Allen’s theatrical style, then you will most likely enjoy this film. Looking at Colin and Ewan on screen for two hours is also a plus!

2. Watch This! “Death at a Funeral”

The year 2007 was just a couple of weeks ago, so we can still suggest films that you should’ve seen when they came out. Dark British comedies never fail to hit the mark, and this one about a dysfunctional family gathering for their father’s funeral is hilarious! It stars Matthew MacFadyen, Keeley Hawes, Rupert Graves and Andy Nyman.

This is definitely a track that leaked a while ago, potentially rumored to be the debut single from their second studio release set for this coming April. Obviously, that’s not true, but that doesn’t mean we can bounce to this bass. You know you want to pull out your Manolos when you hear this!

* 3 whole grapes for garnish, preferably Concord (optional)

Pour gin, grape juice, and bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until well chilled, then strain into a martini glass. Garnish with skewered grapes.

2. Watch This! ‘There Will Be Blood’

“Daniel Day-Lewis gives the performance of the year — snarling, magnetic and mad — as an oilman consumed by ambition at the turn of the century. Much like the black gold that obsesses its characters, Paul Thomas Anderson’s breathtaking film pulsates to a hypnotic, terrifying rhythm all its own.” – Patricia Chul
