MTV’s Video Music Awards nominations are in and Beyoncé and Lady Gaga both lead the pack with a whopping 9 nominations a piece. They will go head to head in the “Video of the Year” and “Best Female Video” categories. Other nominees include Britney Spears, Eminem, Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Coldplay (For a full list of nominees, visit the VMA website by clicking here). This year’s show will be hosted by British comedian Russell Brand and will take place September 13th.

It saddens me to say that Paula Abdul will not be returning to American Idol this fall after she was unable to re-negotiate her contract with FOX. This comes after wide speculation that she would indeed not be returning to the show for the ninth season and would be replaced by judge Kara Dioguardi. Paula released the following statement via her Twitter:

“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all …being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon … What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me … It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month … I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”

I honestly can’t believe they let her go. Do you think Idol will be the same without her?

Someone snuck what appears to be a cellphone camera into the taping of Mariah’s upcoming performance on America’s Got Talent. Diddy took to his YouTube channel recently to introduce us all to his new group Dirty Money. The group consists of himself (by the name of Sean, not Diddy), Dawn Richard (formerly of Danity Kane), and newcomer Kalenna. I’m actually interested in hearing what his new sound is for this upcoming Last Train to Paris album (which recently got pushed back to November). In the video he explains where he got the name “Dirty Money” and also addresses a few rumors floating around about the project. It all makes a little more sense now, but I think it’s definitely something I’m going to have to hear to understand.

Love muffins, how time flies. Another season of American Idol crowns a new king – Kris Allen of Conway, AR! Kris is an amazing talent, but sadly, my heart was set on Adam Lambert. Coming in second is not a bad thing, I mean, look at Clay Aiken (does anyone know where Ruben Studdard is?). Adam will soon be on his way through the American Idol machine – getting a record deal, styling team, etc. …a magic team. I’m sure we all thought it was time for our first gay Idol!
